Changes Round 4
2 things consistent this season so far - Winning and losing players each week to injury.
Webster and Wood out this week.
Using the theory that positional replacements are needed as opposed to perceived next best , and watching Sandy yesterday.
In: Patton, Bytel
Out Webster, Wood.
Now many here will be calling for the knee jerk action to drop Cordy , much the same as Brynes the week before. Both the previous week were in our best or critical to wins and then had a bad game. I love the message it sends that the coach backs his players even if they have a bad one ( yes they are human and will have a bad game) and doesn't ignore what has previously happened. Previous match committees have tossed out fringe players as soon as they had a bad game and it has stifled development of guys like Brynes, Bytel , Connolly IMO - and many before.
Witts rucks like Marshall (most of the game). Cordy can play multiple roles where as Campbell and Heath cannot do the same.
Sub will be interesting one. Peris was emergency 2 weeks ago and was lively yesterday but can you have a player debut as the sub - obviously you can but is that reasonable?
i think the sub has to be versitile to an extent so someone like a Highmore may not be contention?
As i said will be interesting.

Any confirmation from the club on the two injured players?

Re: Changes Round 4
In Paton, Bytel, Heath.
Big Max Heath to FF (and to give Marshall a rest).
Cordy rested (enforced rest).

Bytel and Heath.
Big Max kicked 5.1 yesterday. He's the big target we need up forward and con take the forward ruck work.

Re: Changes Round 4
No chance Cordy will be dropped and Heath still needs more time at Sandy.
Paton and Bytel will come in and flip a coin who gets named as the emergencies.

Re: Changes Round 4
I’d be pretty surprised if Cordy was dropped too. I think on Saturday the conditions tended not to suit him that well and perhaps there wasn’t a great match up for him. His one touch doesn’t look great on the surface but he really wasn’t on the ground all that long so I doubt one could have expected much more.
He’ll still fill the role of chop out ruck and bigger bodied utility/forward… no one else to do it atm and he’s pbly more suited to Marvel as well

Re: Changes Round 4
I would drop Cordy and give Campbell a game.
Owens is far too valuable to be playing him in the ruck.

Re: Changes Round 4
unless either of them pulled up sore, then its Paton and Bytel as unbackable favourites to move into the 22.
Sub on the other hand is up for grabs as the quality drops away sharply.
Personally, I would lean toward Sharman as he provides an option to play a few different positions - but its very clear he isn't impressing enough to stand out from the crowd,

Re: Changes Round 4
Some one on BF has reported Woods injury not as bad as first thought. Which means not a 6 to 8 week recovery. That's all they wrote.

Re: Changes Round 4
Presumably he will need injections to make it through the game. I guess there isn't a lot of risk in him playing if there's no damage to the joint. But how will he go in contests for the ball? That will be the key factor I reckon.

Thou shall be no Scott brothers from Queensland..
There will be no Mal Michael
Coming in for a bite of the wounded..
We will protect!!
Great news- that he is even under consideration given the bad look of the situation

Whoa ... (not so fast).
Who asked for that or suggested it?
And who did you refer to here as "some experts"?
I was the only one who mentioned the word "rest" in this thread ... and in the case of Heath "resting" Marshall, I meant to give him a chop out in the ruck.
Heath at FF .. pretty clear.
And the "enforced rest " re: Cordy was just tongue in cheek.
Heath has to be considered this week ... Cordy didn't have much of an impact.
... be slow to judge and quick to praise is the motto I try to abide by. Golden rule, and all that.

From what I understand Peris has more chance of playing in the ruck this week than Heath does.samoht wrote: ↑Tue 04 Apr 2023 9:00ammagnifisaint wrote: ↑Mon 03 Apr 2023 6:15pm Everyone is f****** sore! So they should all be rested.... according to some experts on here.

Re: Changes Round 4
I'd prefer not to play Wood if he's injured.
A week off to let the inflammation ease up and rehab for the Pies game.
Doubt he will make the final side vs GC.

Re: Changes Round 4
Geez Ross loves Cordy. Brings him up and praises him in every presser when he just talks about hard work whenever a journo sets him up to pump the tires of any other player. Holds his spot after a 1 disposal performance when Campbell had a massive VFL game. Do we have our modern day Zac Dawson?
