Re: Injuries
I thought Membrey’s knee was supposed to be a straight forward arthroscope and clean up.

Re: Injuries
Wow - you can almost put a line through anybody listed as more than 6 weeks I reckon.

Re: Injuries
OK lets ask the question of - Who is unlucky or football related injury, who is a load management/training issue, and who's body cannot handle the rigors of afl?magnifisaint wrote: ↑Tue 21 Mar 2023 7:38pm

Football/ luck
King
Bytel
Webster
Billings?
Windhager
Ross
Keeler
Training load
Allison
Coffield (mentioned coming off ACL was an issue with training loads)
Hayes (see Coffield)
Hotton
McLennan
Durability issues:
Jones
McKenzie
Membrey - clearly someone stuffed up here waiting until 2 weeks before the season to do a clean up - or heaven forbid they didn't tell us the whole truth and was a meniscus issue which would match the recovery timeline they have now come with.
Not blaming anyone specifically but the question needs to be asked when almost a 1/3rd of the list is unavailable.

Re: Injuries
As I posted before, I think we can rule a line through any player for the season who is out for more than six weeks.
We have already played one match now, so if we are talking about players coming in after another 7, 9, or 12 weeks off a limited pre-season, I think we are kidding ourselves. They would have to do a mini pre-season before they return and play at Sandy - I am not against that as part of their rehabilitation, but I don't think anybody with that long a lay off is going to slot back in and make an impact at the end of June.
I do find it odd that players who missed most of last season have re-injured themselves. How does this happen to healthy young adults?

Re: Injuries
Well, probably not - to be honest I don't like the idea of any of our listed players playing at Sandringham - but how else is he going to get his match fitness? Same with Billings.saynta wrote: ↑Wed 22 Mar 2023 6:20pmThe saints are going to send King to Sandy...yeah right.samuraisaint wrote: ↑Wed 22 Mar 2023 6:12pm As I posted before, I think we can rule a line through any player for the season who is out for more than six weeks.

Both of those guys now have leg injuries and for the life of me, given that so many of our players are injury prone, I cannot see how they can come back after so many months out of the game off a limited preseason, and prosper without getting injured again straight away. They come back, get injured again. It stuffs up another preseason. What can you do?
It looks like the majority of those players on that list are 6 weeks away - any more than that and I would be seriously considering putting a line through them for the year.

Wondering if the timelines have that return to full fitness aspect built in?

Re: Injuries
Get the feeling they are being really conservative with these injury timelines
As long as we keep winning or we least keep being super competitive with no further significant injuries there is no rush to bring anyone back

Coffield, Jones, McKenzie
I think Hayes too.
That's 9 of our best players unavailable.

Re: Injuries
I think Jones is debatable. At his best I agree with you, but he's just never had the durability we need. Not in same category as Hannebery, but he is another mid-late career recruit from Sydney who's been disappointing due to injury.samuraisaint wrote: ↑Thu 23 Mar 2023 7:11amCoffield, Jones, McKenzie

But crikey that's some list. Not just the length of the list, but the length of time out for those on it. Five 'indefinite' and we're just at the start of the season and another 5 at six weeks or more. Apart from Max I'm most bummed about Jack Hayes. His ability to play forward and relief ruck, along with his take no prisoners hard at it attitude are missed.
