Re: Just bits and pieces
Bit of an observation on a slowish morning:
Age and AFL Website reporting:
- we don't have rule changes any more there is just "tweaking". PR Spin has got out of control, eh? Rule changes controversial, tweaks just a bit of fun, helpful.
(I think the current tweaks are quite sensible, but; raises the question why they were not incorporated in the original tweaks and how the rule/tweak makers thought things through initially.
Tweaks, or non tweaks as the case was last year, however trivial and not to be overly bothered with, do alter the course of matches. Maybe from '23 behinds can be referred to as attacking tweakables in the commentary, spilled marks a skill tweakable......)
- Steven Silvagni joins the Saints adding to an impressive and formidable group running the football department. Pretty impressive set of CVs doing the job at St. Kilda. The Age's so clever headline: SOS (an old emergency call, for younger viewers; its now Mayday but that pun is being saved for an article on Melbourne) answers Saints call.
But of course no emergency exists at all and it was an appointment made by professional headhunting, not a cry of desperation to any unemployed list manager. Just a bit of fun though, nonsensical play on words. These journos are not clever and hopelessly compromised in their bias, it seems to me.
