14 Saints players were second-hand imports and it has clearly failed, Geelong on the other hand, got it right.

Re: Damian Barrett Again
His points are hard to argue against, Tiges and Geelong are perennially in the top 8 and we are perennially in the bottom 8.
Moreover Hocking from Geelong said during an interview after last years flag that a lot of how they manage their club is to the opposite of what the bottom 8 clubs do consistently.
I think sacking your coach every 2 years was one of the things he was alluding to.

Re: Damian Barrett Again
I think you should all listen (and actually DO listen) to the bumbling attention seeker.
They are making the narrative that St Kilda is affected by.
And you know how politics works. This forum is a classic example.
Now you could argue that SG is looking for attention (fair enough)
But he is clearly pushing the needle towards the ‘media whore’ side of the guage.
He knows the power of rhetoric..
We can’t get enough joy now and he can spoil it with his pissing parade..in our bowl of punch.
f*** him!

I can’t stand the bloke either but the club has acknowledged we put too high an emphasis on trading thus have prioritised hitting the draft the past 2 years.

Exactly…it’s like yesterdays news…
ZERO to do with sacking coaches after having 3 in 12 years…odd linkage…
Suspects it’s about paying $ to attract talent vs developing and getting that balance right
But the club have now accepted this…
Beat up

Re: Damian Barrett Again
I listened. Their points were:
recruiting is important;
If a side goes top it recruited well otherwise "clearly failed". Binary gibberish.
They don't like Saint Kilda, but were careful not to name which of our 14 imports are duds. Perhaps because none currently on our list are.
DB got 10 of his 13 season 22 predictions wrong. Correctly picked Carlton to improve; GWS to fall North for the spoon. He makes Doris Stokes look like an amature. God bless him, he so tries.

Richo should have been sacked every two years. LolVortex wrote: ↑Thu 12 Jan 2023 11:51am His points are hard to argue against, Tiges and Geelong are perennially in the top 8 and we are perennially in the bottom 8.

It's Damian Barrett's fault we've been no good for 10 years.

Re: Damian Barrett Again
Speaking of Richo, he and Ross have something in common, they both had a winning percentage of 33% over 4 years, how St Kilda is that.CQ SAINT wrote: ↑Thu 12 Jan 2023 1:49pmRicho should have been sacked every two years. Great to top up….when you’re core is already strong..
Utter shambolic over estimation of “the window is open” by previous Football admin

Why do us as saints supports even listen to him don't give him the time.
please no more posts about him and negativity on the saints.
Watch if we start to do well he will jump on the bandwagon and be the saints best mate.
He doesn't bag Essendon or GWS, North as much as he gives it to us.

I’m choosy who I actually listen to
Haven’t listened to this idiot, Jay z, Ralph, Dwayne…, Robbo (ultimate flog), Whately (poor man wannabe McAvent), King (chop n change man…I wish Scott ran through him) in years …
Whose left?
I like Buckley - offers something
Riewoldt/Joey - yes sainters but objective
Carey? not anymore…but tried better than Dermott
I like Dunstall when he’s serious cause again he calls stuff out that isn’t always obvious
None of the above match the mental gymnastics I get from a few on here though …that’s all in my new book

Re: Damian Barrett Again
I think if it stimulates conversation it is fun, but then again, as I said earlier, the big a slice of the big narrative bandwidth is always up for grabs.Vortex wrote: ↑Thu 12 Jan 2023 7:06pmThat's not a bad title but I recon "Coach Whisperer" nails it.Teflon wrote: ↑Thu 12 Jan 2023 5:56pmIt’s a good pointSaints58 wrote: ↑Thu 12 Jan 2023 5:04pm Why do us as saints supports even listen to him don't give him the time.

For instance, that list created by BM (thanks) is good,
BMs list................
1 - Hannebery- Fail (inj)
2 - Hill - Pass (paid too much though)
3 - Ryder - Pass
4 - Howard - Pass
5 - Butler - Pass
6 - Jones - Pass (only just)
7 - Higgins - Pass
8 - Crouch - Pass
Others (irrelevant because we gave up zero!)
Kent - played some OK games but was very average
McKernan - Back Up
Frawley - Back Up
Cordy - Back Up
...end BM bit...........
And the comment about binary judgement is also cool.
I think that like Ratts's, Kent's resigning was questionable. Frawley was a bit hopeful in hindsight. Perhaps McKernan wasn't as bad as he was reported to be. But I agree with BMs list. They said Geelong have succeeded handsomely with their recruits, well of course they have when you get Danger, Cameron etc., but they've had a few misses too.
We just are not a 'destination' club. Hopefully that is about to change.
Here's one you might have seen, might not have

Re: Damian Barrett Again
It’s funny
The commentary in the 2020 pre season was how great our off season was
5 ins
All of those players played a significant role in our resurgence in 2020 from a bottom 4 team to finals and ultimately after a 3 season tenure by Brett Ratten at 50% with all of those players being generally senior players - and important player at that!
Don’t listen to and/or believe ridiculous media dribble
Opinion pieces by non football people who haven’t got a clue and use Clickbait to stay relevant
It amazes me how supporters form their opinions by buying this s***?!
Ryder - great value
Howard - in leadership group
Jones - inconsistent but had great games (injuries though)
Butler - leading goalkicker and B&F R/U and one of the best pressure forwards in the AFL
Hill - maligned, has played nearly every game
Higgins - outstanding pre concussion
Crouch - great value
Wood - great Value
Campbell - excellent back up
