Ad two more VFL players and I think Teffers would agree.
Top disposal talles past 5 years.

I’ll think about that Vortex. To be clear, on talent, Jones in pbly top 10. Love the kid. He just never seems to have a consistent patch of playing at the standard he wows us at… does 2-3 games and then breaks down.

Jones wasn’t in the right headspace last season.
His best is excellent around the footy
His worst is poor
Big gap

Same could have been said about Sinclair 3 seasons ago. He was a Nice player, but was not physical in his play at all.Vortex wrote: ↑Mon 09 Jan 2023 8:22amYeah he's not the best use of the ball by foot, but he's been more of a defender/mid and can extract and carry off HB quite well.D.B.Cooper wrote: ↑Sun 08 Jan 2023 9:44pmCan’t see it, too much of a butcher for half back, most coaches looking for elite foot skills at half back IMO.Vortex wrote: ↑Sat 07 Jan 2023 8:43amJones will take Hills spot off the half back.Teflon wrote: ↑Sat 07 Jan 2023 1:22amYep Jones better step up or his borderline not making the side if some of these kids step up..D.B.Cooper wrote: ↑Fri 06 Jan 2023 6:42pmThis highlights we really lack quality midfield depth.B.M wrote: ↑Fri 06 Jan 2023 6:06pm Starting midfield 5 this season imo
Steele
Crouch
Windhager
Ross (ic)
Jones (ic)
Wings
McKenzie
Hill
Wood (ic)
Able to go into the midfield from other spots
Billings from HF to Wing
Sinclair from HB to Mid/Wing
Clark from HB to Mid/Wing
Gresham from Small Forward to Mid
Depth
Owens
Phillipou
Bytel
Byrnes
Jones would not be a top 5 mid in any other club in the competition.
I think Owens might be a starting 22 forward/ mid in 2023 and I’d expect NWM to play similar games to 2022 (15-20?)
Ross has already been pushed out of the midfield under Ratten on numerous occasions
Look for Sinclair to come in as Joey M flagged - best round the ball it’s his next evolution to greatness
Jones could play HB
I also think Owens will get a run not far behind Windhager
Ross will go out
That midfield Martin has put up is treacle slow/1 paced lacks class that Sincs will bring
I could see him as a pressure forward.
Sinclair, Billings, Clark off half back for mine.
Billings is too much of a receiver to be risked in the backline I reckon.
To his and the coaches credit he has turned himself into a hard at it win your own contest gun AFL player.
It’s been a remarkable turnaround and hats off to the lad.
Probably the reason I’m keen to see Billings play half back, but also he’s decent and quite courageous in marking contests and one of our better field kicks.
Jones as small pressure forward as he could win more ball than Butler and Billings to half back along with Sinclair and Clark is what I’m hoping for.
There's only one rule in the jungle! When the LYON's hungry, he eats!

Re: Top disposal talles past 5 years.
Don't get me wrong, as St Kilda supporters we love sticking it up em and being the underdog who proves em wrong (it's been while on that score but you get my drift), so if Jack is swept up in the magical aura of RL and finally becomes "that" player then we will all be stoked, it would be like we've bought in a new gun recruit for free and would be a massive list boost.D.B.Cooper wrote: ↑Mon 09 Jan 2023 1:05pm

I'm just not sure Jack has it in him...another jucy sub-plot for 23.

Re: Top disposal talles past 5 years.
Jack Billings has proved in the past - fully fit - he is a quality AFL player.
His body has not been durable and that’s led to inconsistency
Ability is not the problem, courage is not the problem
He also plays the hardest position in the AFL as a medium HF
Every player we’ve played as a medium HF in the last decade has struggled

Ross will wand them into shape fear not
Jones butchers the ball too much for my liking
Seb was good on occasion last year but pushed out of midfield at times for reason - he doesn’t offer anything different to a Steele/Crouch who are better players
Sincs has been training mids pre season …Rosco knows …
Wand time!

I think Nick Walsh does the fitness not really the domain of the senior coach
He doesn’t want to get ‘caught in the weeds’ remember
This is not 1985 where the coach does everything
Seb was good on occasion was he?
He played as a starting mid most games and was never pushed out. Finished 5th in the B&F

Re: Top disposal talles past 5 years.
Lyon is a quality coach
He will improve us in a few areas, probably equate to a win or two? Injuries will decide?
But your faith in him turning us into a top side with unproven player is funny.
What are you going to say if we have a 6-10 win season?

Re: Top disposal talles past 5 years.
Lyon is quality and gets the best…as quality managers do…hence Misson - do you think he’s better than Brett ? Or they all the same at AFL level?? No real difference in how they manage a team?
I’ll say we are on 4 year journey which is why Bassat and co gave him the tenure
What are you going to say if we make finals after last year’s debacle?
Let me guess ….it was all better injury luck??

Re: Top disposal talles past 5 years.
Last year we won 11 games
Hardly a debacle
Hopefully we win more than 11 this season
What will you say if we don’t?
Because if we don’t - it’s full rebuild
Lyon has never proven he can build a team from the draft

I think we have the list to win between 10-13 wins
Injury depending
King will have a massive impact

Re: Top disposal talles past 5 years.
I think Ross can coach footy - proven it in the past
I also think he makes mistake - proven by the past
The whole - everything the club does is right, I trust the decision makers, I put my faith in the club and/or coaches
Is whimsical
It’s blind faith - hope
Me
Cynical by nature, will always question and challenge if I think poor decisions are made
Ross left the club fkd - he didn’t develop and the list was a mess when he bailed
I also think he makes mistake - proven by the past
