The answer was in 2021 and Wanganeen-Milera, Windhager, Owens, Adams and Peris
Nothing has changed in regards strategy
Gallagher remains as List Manager - and very competent
Matt Maguire was never gifted a 100th game.

Josh Bruce also played 99 games for the Saints.
Aaron Hamill finished 2 games short of his century of games.

Not that it means anything but I’m pretty sure Cazaly played 99 games with both us and South.SaintPav wrote: ↑Fri 02 Dec 2022 8:59amStrange decision.realdeal wrote: ↑Thu 01 Dec 2022 1:33pmLucky we gave Kent a game in round 22 then..Killa wrote: ↑Wed 30 Nov 2022 9:05pm What I do know is that Brett was the catalyst for a focus on junior development

Does anyone know why Adelaide didn't nominate Keeler as an NGA?
It defies logic if he's meant to be very good and a Paddy Ryder clone.

AFL will sort that out one way or the other
Adelaide prob had those concerns too the safer option
may have picked him later if got through
because he is ours we (supporters) might be rating him higher than he really is
pick 44 must be a toss up to make it

The main reason I've heard is because they were bluffed into thinking he would go before pick 40.magnifisaint wrote: ↑Fri 02 Dec 2022 12:38pm Does anyone know why Adelaide didn't nominate Keeler as an NGA?

Others have hinted that he may not be that impressive aerobically.
He is certainly athletically gifted and seems to have some skill and good kicking abilities and well worth the 44 he cost us, so you will have to draw your own conclusions, as time goes on.

Re: What a brilliant draft - well done Saints!
TBH, if given the chance i would've made sure all 3 of those blokes hit 100 games with the club, but Kent was playing what, game 37 with us and also wasnt going to benefit the club in any way..SaintPav wrote: ↑Fri 02 Dec 2022 8:59amStrange decision.realdeal wrote: ↑Thu 01 Dec 2022 1:33pmLucky we gave Kent a game in round 22 then..Killa wrote: ↑Wed 30 Nov 2022 9:05pm What I do know is that Brett was the catalyst for a focus on junior development

Re: What a brilliant draft - well done Saints!
The playing group seemed supportive of Kent appearing for the 100th time at AFL level
They celebrated with him - also recognising his retirement
He was on our List so trained and attended all other responsibilities with his fellow players - so, you would assume, had the respect of the Club
And he was included for his 100th and last game
I have no problem with that
In fact, I applaud it
It was the Club’s last game for the season - being the completion of the Minor Round season
Put things into perspective people
I am sure Kent was most appreciative
He leaves the game with 100 AFL games to his credit - along with a number of VFL games

That being said, if Adelaide actually wanted him, they could have picked him at 43. They chose Billy Dowling instead.CQ SAINT wrote: ↑Fri 02 Dec 2022 2:10pmThe main reason I've heard is because they were bluffed into thinking he would go before pick 40.magnifisaint wrote: ↑Fri 02 Dec 2022 12:38pm Does anyone know why Adelaide didn't nominate Keeler as an NGA?

Sometimes players just don’t fit into a squad, they aren’t the right player.
We passed on Biggy a few years ago, and I don’t think we missed him.

I wouldn't want to play alongside Tex. Maybe he didn't like the vibe over at Adelaide and made that clear.

Here is an interesting thread.
Seems we felt we had drafted three elite players in the 2013 draft

I was hoping Dylan Roberton would have been made sub a few times to get him to 100.realdeal wrote: ↑Fri 02 Dec 2022 6:57pmTBH, if given the chance i would've made sure all 3 of those blokes hit 100 games with the club, but Kent was playing what, game 37 with us and also wasnt going to benefit the club in any way..SaintPav wrote: ↑Fri 02 Dec 2022 8:59amStrange decision.realdeal wrote: ↑Thu 01 Dec 2022 1:33pmLucky we gave Kent a game in round 22 then..Killa wrote: ↑Wed 30 Nov 2022 9:05pm What I do know is that Brett was the catalyst for a focus on junior development

Aaron Hamill finished 2 games short of his century of games.
I think he has 3 boys and he and his wife come from a good local footy pedigree.
Ken I didn't feel earned the 100th, but that is just my opinion which is irrelevant.
I would have preferred a player like Bytel or Byrnes or who was performing best in the VFL play on front of Kent and Hannas for that matter.

We won’t know whether it’s a great draft for 4-5 years
2014
We drafted 2 kp pillars for 12 years
Played 40 games between them

How was he going in the twos?
