As covered by way of example, St Kilda does not have a culture of success on which to build
What St Kilda does have is one premiership in 1966
And it has a period of relative success playing in successive Grand Finals
The Club is now revisiting that period of relative success by appointing the Coach from that 2 year period
A Coach who, personally, has unfinished business at St Kilda
The next thing to watch is the gathering of resource from that period of relative success, noting the appointment of Hayes already
They may not be premiership coaches or players but they are the closest St Kilda has to a successful culture to rely on as the foundation for future success
And they are looking to build a culture from those foundations of relative success
We all trust it succeeds
It may even be that other former influential benefactors out there hands in their pockets - which certain have not done for a long period of time citing the support they had previously afforded - for what?

Re: To the Top
Some funny stuff gets written on this site, especially on this thread, not sure about to the top, i'd say over the top, after quite a few sippers.
Season 2024 is where RTB is showing the footy world his grasp of the modern game.
Re: To the Top
"I was walking past the Club's Hall of Fame and there was a quote from Robert Harvey talking about being at St Kilda: it's a privilege to be here and respect it" Ross Lyon.
And that is exactly what I am driving at.
The St Kilda Hall of Fame is 1 (one) premiership side, in 1966.
Across 149 years.
My history is a Club which now has 31 photos of Premiership sides on the walls of the Club's Hall of Fame, across 143 years.
So over 700 players and staff, because they are team photos.
St Kilda needs to aspire to a Hall of Fame which does not all but exclusively feature individuals, albeit they were Champions of the Code.
When I was a kid, my Grand-father and my Father took me to the footy each Saturday (and sometimes with my Grand-father took me to practice on a Thursday night)
Allan Killigrew came from St Kilda to Coach (and bought a raft of St Kilda players with him, Brian Bowe a neighbor and friend of my Father's)
Some years ago, at a reunion event, Allan Killigrew was a guest.
In speaking to Allan, he confided he only had one regret in his life.
Not coaching a Premiership side.
He did coach to 2 Grand Finals, in 1960 and 1961.
And that is exactly what I am driving at.

...
Here's a clue. Robert Harvey had not been born yet in 1966.
