Who else must go?
So 8-3 Lethlean with Finnis go tot he board and recommend a contract extension. ALA Richardson years before .
The board listen to the reasons why and agree- luckily someone pipes up and says remember we had to pay Richo a packet when we moved him on last time we did this and it resulted in us playing games in China, Cairns and anywhere else the AFL wanted to send us as our Pimp.
Good point lets put a 6mth pay out clause in as although we have just heard how good we are going 8-3 and why we need to extend him now, if it goes to s*** we can not be financially stuffed.
I am sure the meeting didn't go like this but that is what happened.
So surely it isn't all Ratten? Lade has moved on, but while assistant coaches can make head coaches better not sure they can drag them down.
Surely Lethlean, at the very least has to go. HE was in charge of football and this is where the recommendation came from - surely. Yes it is a new role - thank goodness away from the footy department.
Are there any board members who have now extended 2 consecutive coaches and sacked both before the contracts finished?
IF you look at the last list of premiers they all have 1 thing in common - Stability through adversity. Richmond could have sacked Hardwick in 2016 but Brendan Gale had the ball s to make the tough call . Goodwin 2019 poor year following finals stuck fat. Geelong - Scott failed again and again at the final hurdle, and i know plenty of Geelong fans calling for his blood- but didn't flinch, like Thompson before that .
I am not saying Ratten was going to be these guys but surely the only time in my lifetime where this club as been relativity successful is when there was stability/ -Thomas period and Lyon Period. Thomas ultimately let his ego destroy him and a not quite there from a coaching perspective, Lyon was a brilliant coach ( forget the person), since then we have had Watters, Richo, Ratten. Alves and Sheldon period combined was a wave of up and down and up and down.
My point is it cant always bee just the coach

Whomever was behind the wheel(s) that just rolled and rolled, and allowed Brett to be re-signed as a ‘matter of process’ this year needs to GO!
You're quite brilliant Shane, yeah..terrific!

Re: Who else must go?
I wonder if something came up about the Hawthorn investigation as Ratts was there when it went down. So the club didn't wont this to impact on the club during the off season.
We will not be told this as its a ongoing investigation.
David Rath might also go as he was at Hawthorn with Ratts.

Let's remember when Ratten's contract was extended we were 8 and 3 and looking very likely for finals.
Think of me long enough to make a memory.

Re: Who else must go?
I'm afraid that Andrew Bassat must fall on his sword. This shambolic situation was alllowed to occur on his watch.
Rugby League would have to be the stupidest, most moronic and over rated game of all time.

Let's remember that is a feeble excuse to re-sign Brett.Bruce G McAbee wrote: ↑Fri 14 Oct 2022 12:20pm Let's remember when Ratten's contract was extended we were 8 and 3 and looking very likely for finals.
And the 8-3 was flattering.
Just 3 wins were really impressive. (Freo, Richmond and Geelong) The latter weren't travelling that well.
We got smashed out of the gate by Collingwood.
Lost to Port when Port couldn't beat anyone.
North, Gold Coast, Hawthorn, Adelaide...junk wins
We had the King kicking fiasco..
It wasn't all roses in the first half of the season.
And on the back of a terribly disappointing '21.
You're quite brilliant Shane, yeah..terrific!

Re: Who else must go?
What should go next is the partnership with Sandgringham. The arrangement is like a ball and chain and does nothing for the development of our players. I'm glad Jake Batchelor is gone. Watching this Sandy games was like watching Auskick on a bad day. He would praise Matt Allison for a 5 possession game in his match reviews, FFS.

Re: Who else must go?
Gallagher must go.
In
Brad Hill and a future third-round selection (plus a reported $900k salary)
Out
Blake Acres, Pick 10, Pick 58, and two future second and a fourth round pick.

Didn't think there 2 future seconds were there? Just one?D.B.Cooper wrote: ↑Fri 14 Oct 2022 3:59pm Gallagher must go.

Anyway, basics were pick 6 for Hill, Howard & Ryder. Not too bad.

Re: Who else must go?
Watching the press conference could not help but think what a circus our club is .
What an absolute snake we have S.L . who should be sacked.
Could not help but think that our next coach has already been chosen after viewing the clowns at the media conference.
I wish him/her all the best and hope they have a good start to the season.
The club obviously believes we have the right team but not the coach.
BOOM BOOM

Lethlean a snake? Probably. Plenty of them in football. He's out of the football side of things now that he's CEO, which is a good thing

I wonder when the decision was actually made, seems the timing is impeccable avoiding the media
If it was last week wouldn’t have affected our trading but all the media were pumping

Any players who haven't turned up every time we have played Essendon and Port Adelaide over the years.
They should be shown the door tomorrow.

Re: Who else must go?
Really good question
Curly seems to have suggested that the decision was just made… one can’t help but feel however that Ratten was less than surprised
Speculation is also rife that a successor is already in place.
My gut tells me that this has boiled over over several weeks or longer

Our alignment with Sandringham so that we can finally start to develop players properly.

As I recall he was signed after the Carlton game which took us to 9 and 6.

May be two different time lines.
I recall speculation BR had been extended but the club did not want to announce on the back of 3 or so losses.
