Potential trade targets

Post: # 1982846Post footynut »

I think we should be targeting youngish player who fill a need but still have the potential to be develop into best 22 players.

Elliott Himmelberg, averages over 1 goal per game and would fill the fwd/ruck void. Would he be better than
Sam Weideman or Esava Ratugolea.

Tanner Bruhn, Geelong is low balling GWS, do maybe there's a chance to steal him.

Miles Bergman hasn't had much opportunity & was a first round pick.

Lachie Hunter if he costs nothing could be useful.

Mitch Georgiades would be dynamic, but would be expensive.

There has to be other Jack Steeles out there that are not being used to their potential

My view is that we’ve made a huge mistake not chasing Ratugolea. Massive bloke with great pair of hands who is very athletic. We have a real need down back for that sort of player. If our development was better I’d have been really confident he would have been a great fit.

Disappointed

Ratugalea is a specimen

If he was any good, he’d be a regular

It’s not his body holding him back, it’s his ability

Agree with BM - he clunks a few but drops just as many or more and he doesn't have that many other strings to his bow

Maybe he could useful at full back on some of the monster forwards but doubt he has ever played that position before

He looked like he was going to be a player before that broken leg, but doesn’t seem to have the same go since then.

Maybe another guy whose highlights reel looks good but is butt average.

We’ll see. I hope you’re right.

That logic could be applied to many players at 2nd clubs - like Jack Steele…..

My Carlton mates rate Stocker, would be worth a look I think. They were disappointed when he got delisted. Possibly better midfield option if Bytel leaves? They must have seen something in him to go all out. Would come cheap.

No to Hunter - attacks the free kick (won't work at st kilda) and can't kick over a jam tin.

We need ball hunters who can kick

So are there any updates or ITK's about what we are doing over the next few days as all seems quite. Long has gone, both Clark and Hill were touted as possibly going to North? Bytel has Essendon interested but is there anything else?

Cordy has come in but not much else, any chance of doing a pick/s swap to get higher in draft? How does Geelong swap 5 picks for 1, is this team just blessed and clubs only want to deal with them as it seems all the players want to go there also?

Imagine the CCTV coverage of the StKilda booth at trade Central.

Just hours of Gags playing solitaire.

Looks like Weideman wasnt keen on the Saints? Gaggs said we were after a tall forward aswell as key defender in Cordy.

I wonder what other players we have on our wish list for a bargain basement deal eg Schache, Himmelberg, McLean, Armatey or James Stewart?
