Re: Concerns over our age demographic
What about the mean/median/mode?
On another note even though Geelong is listed at the top, it seems like having players over 30 has nothing to do with being successful. Maybe just 'has been'.

Re: Concerns over our age demographic
Okay...if you're Geelong, you have 6 of your starting 22 between the ages of 32 and 34. None are just making up the numbers. Of the 7 others who are over 30, maybe 3 will be done by the end of 2024. That means Geelong has to replace 9 of its best 22 over the next two years. Most of their very best players are in that 30+ group.
There are no players on our list who will be old than 31 by the end of 2024, bar Tom Campbell, who in all likelihood will be delisted by then.
Some seem to think we've basically run out of time with this playing group, and therefore have blown our list management over the past 4 years of draft/trade periods (from which we've added more than half of our team...Howard, King, Crouch, Butler, Higgins, Owens, Wanganeen-Milera, Windhager, Sharman, Hill, Wilkie, Highmore, Bytel, Hayes, Wood, Jones)
I'm not as pessimistic as some of the doomsayers and cassandras that populate this forum.
No doubt we have to add more talent to be a real contender, so the 2022 & 2023 drafts are critical.
We are not a disaster, and the fact that most of our team is aged 27 and under means that if we get it right we will be a better unit in 2025 compared to 2022.

But yes after our retirements/delistings we do not have a lot of 30+ players.
But we have enough players old enough age wise that our ladder placement this year was not adequate if you want to use age as the only measure.

Re: Concerns over our age demographic
I agree with this assessment, the list is by no means a disaster, it's just that right now it lacks sufficient A grade players compared to a lot of the other teams to reach a higher level. To that extent, finishing 10th when after 11 rounds they were 8-3, is imho a reasonable result.
In terms of the 24 and unders that have shown promise such as Josh Battle, Ben Paton, Jack Higgins, Hunter Clark, Nick Coffield, Hunter Clark, Max King, Cooper Sharman, Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera, Windhager and Mitchoto Owens, many of whom were early draft picks, complimented by Damian Carroll in charge of development and a refreshed list of coaches, I am confident that the team will show good progress in 2023 and beyond.
