I don’t have a read on Perish but that all seems fairly appropriate I’d have thought.

Did Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera re-sign? I must have missed that!
Not "Simon Templar". He was here first. Please change my username to Bumstead and if possible make me one of those very large sandwiches, thanks!

Re: Wood, Highmore, Campbell, Peris one year extensions
Well Long is going by all accounts. Connolly must be contracted for another year then?
6 out already (Hannebery, Kent, Geary, Joyce, Ryder and Long)… + Clark is a possibility.
No obvious ins at this point. Seems unlikely that we’re going to just straight draft 6-7 players.
Looks to me like it’s worth keeping the lot of them on the kist… personally I would do 1 year contracts for the lot with huge performance based incentives for Jones if he can get close to his best in any meaningful way.
Only Lienert seems close to where he needs to be in terms of hitting expectations albeit he is ok without being spectacular.
If there was a cursory signing for 2 years on low money… it’s for him.
I’m a big fan of both Bytel and Byrnes but they need to be at peak fitness now and hit the season breathing fire.
Be interesting to see what happens

Yep, got a two year extension at the end of 2021, along with Sharman.

Now how best to use Highmore.
And give Campbell a fair crack.
Both better than background extras.

Yes I also read that Byrnes had signed again. I think it was announced last week.

Happy for Wood, because he has a big tank and uses the ball better than most players on our list. Tick.
Peris has shown some promising glimpses for a rookie. Tick.
Highmore is too good for the VFL, but his kicking is still shaky. Jury still out.
Campbell showed in the final game that he can play second ruck, but cannot rest forward.
In other words he needs to rest on the bench, making him a liability at AFL level. Cross!

Re: Wood, Highmore, Campbell, Peris one year extensions
I have Jones down to the end of 2023
But only Byrnes, Bytel and Lienert (rookie) yet to be resigned.
Long also out of contract but has already nominated he wants a trade to Gold Coast.

Highmore can really play, and we desperately need defenders. The only thing holding Tom back is the development he isn't getting at Sandy. And he isn't alone there.darylcowie wrote: ↑Thu 29 Sep 2022 5:23pm Happy for Wood, because he has a big tank and uses the ball better than most players on our list. Tick.

Lieberman deserves a contract, he played well in most of his games this year and his confidence grew in the last couple. Delivered the ball well inside 50 very nicely.
Glad to see Highmore sticking around for another year.

Yep, Gags said on Trade Radio' that club 'loves Long', but he wants GC, so they're gonna try to get value for his trade.

What about adopting Geelong's Stanley model and getting Campbell to rest in defence?darylcowie wrote: ↑Thu 29 Sep 2022 5:23pm Happy for Wood, because he has a big tank and uses the ball better than most players on our list. Tick.

Re: Wood, Highmore, Campbell, Peris one year extensions
Stanley didn’t rest in defence
He dropped behind the footy, Blicvas rucked forward of the centre and they rolled a forward to stoppages in the front half
Could Campbell play as a number 1 ruckman and Marshall as a forward/ruckman?
I think between Hayes and Campbell we have ruck support

Re: Wood, Highmore, Campbell, Peris one year extensions
On the other hand, Heath has shown he can kick a goal and compete in the ruck. At 204cm, he will cause headaches alongside Max and Timmy and only needs to ruck 20% of at least 80% game time. This year we find out about him but I think Hayes will have them both covered.darylcowie wrote: ↑Thu 29 Sep 2022 5:23pm Happy for Wood, because he has a big tank and uses the ball better than most players on our list. Re: Wood, Highmore, Campbell, Peris one year extensions
I wouldn't say that game shows that he can't rest forward. He's kicked 4 goals in an AFL game before, which Marshall has never done. King got off the chain in that game as well which may indicate that we're better off having another big body resting forward to take some heat off/crash packs.darylcowie wrote: ↑Thu 29 Sep 2022 5:23pm Campbell showed in the final game that he can play second ruck, but cannot rest forward.

Re: Wood, Highmore, Campbell, Peris one year extensions
I do agree with you about Campbell but hayed is not a ruckman in the AFL maybe in SANFL he is but he is better as a forward and was really a good option other then King supports him well takes a lot of pressure of him.B.M wrote: ↑Thu 29 Sep 2022 11:40pm Stanley didn’t rest in defence

As ruck support what about Lienhert he did play that role a bit later in the season and did well.
