Noble discusses Saints review.

Post: # 1981732Post Faulky63 »

Former North Melbourne coach David Noble has discussed his involvement in St Kilda's post-season review.

Noble assisted the Saints in their review of 2022, which ended in disappointing fashion as they missed the finals.

"I think they wanted to challenge themselves, where they were at," he told Continental Tyres AFL Trade Radio on Wednesday.

"That was the pleasing thing that I felt … that they were brave enough to have that internal discussion and invite someone like myself as an independent to come and have a listen.

"I was afforded some great opportunity to look at a bit of their strategy going forward, what they'd sort of planned to do, I guess did it make sense, were there things that they were missing, were there things they needed to put in place from all sorts of things, from overall staff, improvement, leadership, some broader pieces.

"They'll now go away and pull those further apart and look at the areas that they need now to move forward in order to bring the club forward."

Sounds solid.

I thought the same.

Benefit of the doubt is he does not want to divulge any internal secrets.

Guess he is bound by confidentiality provisions.
Can nevertheless see why he lost the players at North.
Wonder what his contribution to our review was.

As I suspected, a Clayton's review.

Would have been nice if he spent a month in the coaches box on game day.

For those wondering, this is not the actual review.

I think the average New Idea article has more substance than those quotes from Noble.

True. It's more like a review of the review by one of the review reviewers.

"Yeah, wow! I can't say very much, you know, confidentiality and all that until the review is officially released. But I did have nice coffee with Lenny one morning, and wow, they are definitely keeping it under the radar down there, some very exciting stuff going down, I can say that much. Ground breaking even. What they are doing might even change the way all clubs are run in future. The other clubs best be on red alert! Great vibe down there at the moment! Marvellous."

Like my mum used to say “ if you have nothing nice to say then don’t say anything at all”
Just not worth making a statement at all, if that’s all the club puts out also then we are in trouble as supporters.

The statement reads like a less articulate Richo wrote it.

A lot of eggs going into the Brett Ratten basket, I hope he is the right man.

Geoff Walsh would be a strong appointment.
Let’s hope that one comes off.

You think Brett can't read the signs. Only he and Mr Enright left.
Has to bear the "has full Board support" burdon.
Enter a harder edged man. No more time for some players getting free passes.
Clock has started.

It’s not the review.

It’s not a club statement about the review.

David Noble is one of the hosts on Trade Radio, he wasn’t there to talk about the review, and it would be inappropriate for him to reveal any details.

Interesting. That’s not how it was communicated through the media.

I suppose seeking an outside voice is a sign that they potentially might be open to change.

From memory, I think he was on the record as to not being sure about his long term path, so we allowed him to ‘dip his toe in the water’ on many aspects of club administration and coaching. He needs to work out what he’s actually good at…and we need to make a hard call on whether he stays.

True. Either that or just ticking a box. The level of involvement would be the tell.
