The irony about pursuing De Goey
Is that he was taken at pick 5 in the 2014 draft.
We had pick 1 on that same draft, but took McCartin.
McCartin isn’t even on our list anymore and it seems like the club will be prepared to throw the war chest at De Goey to get him, irrespective of how unlikely it is that he’ll leave the Pies.
Sorry, but am I the only one who thinks this smells a bit?

Re: The irony about pursuing De Goey
What about it smells or is ironic? 1 player got a heap of concussions, basically retired and then returned after a not playing for several years, the other has been in the system the whole time and developed.
Touk Miller was taken at 29 in the same draft, would it smell or be ironic if he was out of contract and we tried to recruit him?

He’s a free agent so there will obviously be no trade involved.
Holder of unacceptable views and other thought crimes.

Re: The irony about pursuing De Goey
The irony is it’s a rinse and repeat of our mistakes of the past. Are we having a tilt or rebuilding? Do our brains trust really think we are one or so players off being a real contender or are we rebuilding around king? Why would you shop Clark but try to recruit degoey?
Shows a complete lack of cohesive strategy in my mind. No irony in missing the draft, just more of the same and expecting a different outcome from the powers that be

I tend to agree that this is the big problemMC Gusto wrote: ↑Sat 17 Sep 2022 11:31am The irony is it’s a rinse and repeat of our mistakes of the past. Are we having a tilt or rebuilding? I heard Jordan Lewis on AFL360 earlier last week and Robbo was asking him whether he had a 'feel' for what Essendon people thought about who should be the next coachBanger9798 wrote: ↑Sat 17 Sep 2022 3:27pmAnd that's what makes Trout a football geniusImpatient Sainter wrote: ↑Sat 17 Sep 2022 1:31pm Trout said he didnt make his bed, and Paddy had a much nicer family.
For those who are unaware, Lewis is on the panel for the committee advising the Essendon board regarding their next senior coach
Jordan said he thought it was important to get some feedback on what Essendon 'people' were thinking so he reeled off some names of some some former players
Anyhoo...guess who one of the names was of the players he spoke to? Yep. The 'Trout' himself - Tony Elshaug
Never ever ever should we ever employ any former Essendon people ever again at St Kilda!
