Re: Hannebery announces retirement
With Hill going as wel that laves about $1.4m in the war chest which I dearly hope they don't gamble on DeGoey (but they probably will).
No more gambling!
Make another offer to Bing if you want to inject some excitement (and yes, I accept that our biggest need is quality midfielders).

Bye Dan. Good luck in your future endeavours.
Glad that failed experiment is over.

The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?

Probably go to North and play three uninterrupted seasons.

If Clarko grabs Hill surely he wouldn't take Injuredbury as well.

Re: Hannebery announces retirement
Why does everyone carry on like it was Hannebery’s fault he was injured?

IMO I don't think the majority of Saints fans think it's Hanners fault . I think you will find most blame the club & IMO rightly so

At least with Fan retired we won’t be using him to help us recruit Buddy

Re: Hannebery announces retirement
He showed yesterday what he is capable of, but anyone else would have been forced to retire at lest 12-24 months ago.
I can’t recall a precedent of giving any one player such a length of time to keep playing on without being able to get on the field. Not at St Kilda anyway. Maybe Hamill but he was gone within 2 years of injuring his knee if memory serves me correctly.
Very weird.

Re: Hannebery announces retirement
It’s so tempting to try and keep him on isn’t it? How long do people want to keep him on the list? Especially when you look at how he performed yesterday but also in the Hawks game 3 weeks ago….BUT
Even if we rookie him, I don’t think the Saints are ready to be contenders. I was dead against the Saints giving Geary one more year when his body was consistently letting him down and I feel we just have to bite the bullet and go down the path of a semi-rebuild right now.
He was one of my favourite players in the AFL during the time he was dominating the midfield but Hannebery is not going to win us a premiership in 2023.
Has his ‘lifestyle’ choices changed and do we have some sort of evidence (medical reports) that the reasons for his injuries have been diagnosed and treated? What is different with his body? Has he somehow totally overcome all his issues?
Let’s rewind 4 years ago. If we knew back then…what we know now….we’d never have brought him into our club

Of course, but I imagine our hope was that he could get his body right and offer us his elite ball winning and ball use

Re: Hannebery announces retirement
FFS if we throw him a life line on the back of getting u for his “swan song” we are f#cked in the head.
Problem is I wouldn’t put it past us todo so.

I could see him at North next year, makes a lot of sense.

Rookie list only at the end of pre season uninterrupted. Surely if he can get through everything he is better than pick 79 or whatever

Re: Hannebery announces retirement
The fact he has got on the park 18 times in the last 4 seasons doesn't concern you?older saint wrote: ↑Tue 23 Aug 2022 10:10am Rookie list only at the end of pre season uninterrupted. Surely if he can get through everything he is better than pick 79 or whatever
Yes he played a cracking game, but it is not unusual for a player to "get up" for their last outing, especially when it was against his his club.
As great a player as he was, he is cooked.

Re: Hannebery announces retirement
Absolutely hence why i would only consider it IF he can complete a full pre-season no interruptions. Don't need to list final players until FebD.B.Cooper wrote: ↑Tue 23 Aug 2022 10:17amThe fact he has got on the park 18 times in the last 4 seasons doesn't concern you?older saint wrote: ↑Tue 23 Aug 2022 10:10am Rookie list only at the end of pre season uninterrupted. Re: Hannebery announces retirement
He is not technically injured at the moment so could go on elsewhere.
