A lack of accountability, a lack of presence and abysmal with the ball in hand
The Geelong comment on Hannebery at half time was how valuable he was to St Kilda - the opposite to Ross
Sharman shows promise His leaping ability in a side which lacks height is valuable as well
Bytel for Ross for mine - Bytel could not be any worse
Webster also was very ordinary
Both Ross and Webster are approaching 30 years of age with no stand out features so of the past
Neither can influence results

Out Hanners, Jones, Webster, Higgins, Ross
In NWM, Bytel, Campbell, Connolly, Highmore
Play two rucks changing at full forward, King to CHF on his last chance ditto for Hill.
None of this likely to happen but we could do worse

Re: Changes v Brisbane
The last few weeks Daniher has played as the high half forward often pushing up t0o the wing - hence this match up. Basically we should hold our structure Battle the high half forward, and Wilkie and Howard deeper taking the better match up between hipwood and mcstay (predominantly)WellardSaint wrote: ↑Mon 08 Aug 2022 2:39pmDaniher too tall for Battle.older saint wrote: ↑Mon 08 Aug 2022 11:45amBattle - Daniher
Wilkie - Hipwood
Howard - McStay
No match up there for him.
Cameron - Paton
Webster - McCarthy
Sinclair - 6th forward ( probably tagged by Robinson)
A few weeks ago, Battle went to a tall Fwd (which match? Can't recall) but the difference in height was quite obvious.
Battle couldn't spoil at all.
Tried but didn't get near it when his oppo was marking it

I think the list is pretty shot mentally, and Ratts also looks and talks like a man out of ideas. I would like to see Connolly, Bytel, Byrnes and Campbell get a game this week. I think Hill, Jones, King and Clark should be playing at Sandy. But we're not serious challengers now, so lets look to 2023

While there is a chance to make finals surely we should push for that. Agree will not win the flag however the experience of playing a final ( if we were able to fluke it there) would be invaluable to Owens,Windy, etcspert wrote: ↑Tue 09 Aug 2022 11:33am I think the list is pretty shot mentally, and Ratts also looks and talks like a man out of ideas. I think the best education for youngsters like Owens and Windy, is for the senior players to lift the bar and play better, and more consistent football.older saint wrote: ↑Tue 09 Aug 2022 11:50amWhile there is a chance to make finals surely we should push for that. Bytel will possibly be at another club & NWM is homesick so the story goes, should we really play them if that is the case?

Bytel should be playing. I know he's had his injuries, but there's no excuse for keeping him out of these last two games.PADDLEPOP1001 wrote: ↑Wed 10 Aug 2022 3:01pm Bytel will possibly be at another club & NWM is homesick so the story goes, should we really play them if that is the case?
If he ends up leaving, then so be it, but we should be giving him a chance to stay and ourselves a chance to keep him.

Pick the team that gives us the best possible chance of winning the game, getting 4 points and staying in the race.
The rest be damned.
Competitiveness.

He has been
injured for most of this season and only starting to get match fit.
He surely couldn’t have expected to come into the seniors any sooner.

I was at training for five minutes today.
McKenzie full training
Hannebery and Sharman doing non contact drills
Billings doing laps
Battle not training.

Re: Changes v Brisbane
He is contracted for next year but has not extended his contract like Windy,OWENS & Hayes!
If he does want to go home makes sense to have an open & honest discussion with him & get at least a little currency back for him not like what Cripps did to us going back to West Coast!

Re: Changes v Brisbane
NWM musn't like playing Saints pooball, i understand that, i don't like watching it but they continually serve it up.
The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?

Some good attributes, but is such an outside player.
Must have been told to go back to the Magoo's and stick a tackle.
If he really wants out, we should get a FRDP this year, and avoid the Cripps scenario

Re: Changes v Brisbane
Yes agreed especially if our gun coach keeps throwing in defence , in the ruck and forward …Vortex wrote: ↑Mon 08 Aug 2022 11:41amAs has been the case for over a month now, what other options do the selectors have, it's not as though the selectors sit around the selection table each week feeling like they are blessed with options, especially for key positions.
The positive is Sharman is getting a game but otherwise wouldn't be if our list wasn't a rabble, the down side is he may lose confidence if he keeps getting slaughtered each week while playing with the big kids.
