Re: Tasmania
Would you like me to name some Tasmanians that have been drafted?!
Money
Do you think corporate and sponsorship money comes from areas local to clubs?
Last time I checked Collingwood aren’t based in the UAE
North Melbourne are not Japanese
Why do you think if Tassie were a side, they would need local money and local players?
How many locals have Brisbane got???
How much of their cooperate income local???
Biggest myth in football is that Tasmania would have to provide money and players from within the state?!
It’s not state of origin

Re: Tasmania
JO was the go. the smart thing to do. but they did what st kilda always do - they blew it.
a modern boutique inner suburban ground in st kilda with easy access for all and in the best environment in melbourne.
how do people get there? silly question when the grand prix has hosted over 100k a day. even sillier when they won't actually be hosting afl games, just as rsea doesn't.
a move to jo would have revitalised the club.
like rsea now players would be training there and the women playing there. potential trades would be attracted to being able to live in the most beautiful part of melbourne and walk to work.
all gone now. just another small club based miles from anywhere, closer to tassie though. hmm?

Re: Tasmania
BTW
Cricket Victoria and StK CC are both using the ground
Not sure they want to give it to the club that walked out 50 years ago
Which BTW was the best thing the club ever did!!!
Need to do it again!
StK
In no way a fan of the suburb. s*** to get to, and crowded with tourists and wankers!

Re: Tasmania
It's really not bad at all. Wankers largely confine themselves to the new Espy and Village Belle.
And thank god for the tourists, they bring the place to life. Wasn't the same without them last two years.
Let me know next time you come through and I'll show you how we have fun.

Re: Tasmania
Yeah…
It doesn’t what they ‘want’….
They don’t like their debt either..
You don’t get what you want, you get what you negotiate.
You're quite brilliant Shane, yeah..terrific!

Re: Tasmania
Your love for Tassie shows in your bias - old home town
How many Tassie players are top 22 for their team now?
They have a rich history of players taken over many years but how many players do/have they produced in the last 20 years. They have been struggling to have any player drafted now for several years. QLD and NSW produce many more players than Tas. Keep in mind that if they join the AFL they will be relying on other states to keep them afloat.
Corporate dollar is not going to improve for a side stuck down the bottom.

Re: Tasmania
Jack Riewoldt
Jeremy Howe
Alex Pearce
Grant Birchall
Ben Brown
Jimmy Webster
Lachie Weller
Toby Nankervis
Mitch Robinson
Just off the top of my head…
BTW
How many Queenslanders play for Brisbane or GC
How many NSW players are there at Sydney or GWS
It’s a National comp with a National draft

Re: Tasmania
So nine players in almost 20years that are considered 1st 18.
I'm glad the other states most notably vic will make their side if they join the afl. Expect Tas to have priority on their own state players
It would be great if rich vein could materialize as did in the 60's
Did you know victoria provide more than half the drafted players and people are calling for too many clubs in this great state.

Re: Tasmania
Thats just off the top of my head, I’m sure I have missed plenty.
Like Jake Kolodjashni, Hugh Greenwood, Aaron Hall, Chayce Jones… again off the top of my head.
Plus players who have come and gone. I reckon 30+ have been drafted in the last 20 years
Not bad for a population of less than 500 000
