Trouble on the doorstep
My beloved Saints are in trouble on so many levels. I feel helpless. Please spare me the 'you are being dramatic'. We are rewarding crap.

Re: Trouble in the doorstep
Well we are talking about an incompetent football club.
I don't really know what St KFC is good at, but i do know it isn't football.

The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?

I don't think there is any question we are number one for sacking coaches when a scapegoat is needed.

I'm a long-standing member, so I can attend the AGM,
but I live in Perth and not financially able to travel to Melbourne.
I want some of you folks to ask questions at the AGM

Re: Trouble on the doorstep
IMO the problem is we can turn it on at times & we look like the real deal & as supporters get excited because we see hope but it's false hope because we fall apart like wet cardboard when the expectation level get's too hard . We have gone from 8 & 3 to 9 & 8 in the blink of an eye ,sure we probably over achieved (just ask Satan) but pathetic responses to bad losses shows where we are really at , middle of the road some where between 15th & 10th . Another wasted year IMO but hey after 50 + years of being a Saints supporter nothing surprises me anymore

Re: Trouble on the doorstep
Can we somehow get a list of questions together and a representative or representatives submit the questions to the board. Obvious one being the early signing of Ratten. There are plenty of smarter people than me out there but we could get studied input together I would think.

Re: Trouble in the doorstep
Absolute myth that we chop and change coaches. Blight wasn’t interested and had to go. Watson walked. Watters was crap. Since the late 80s Baldock, Sheldon, Alves, Thomas, Lyon, Richo, Ratten have all had a proper go. That’s 2 coaches in 35 years we’ve sacked early and they both deserved it.Teflon wrote: ↑Sun 24 Jul 2022 12:35amYeah we never just give them enough of a go…

Re: Trouble on the doorstep
Once its even clearer we have blown 2022 a review will be announced. The review will find the club is heading in the right direction, apart for the Ladder, and we just need better output from a few senior players. You can't have everything. We look forward to the draft. Ratts has some great ideas for 2023 and his move to Malacoota in 2024, which he can now afford. Your membership renewal is in the mail and please check out all our website content. There is archive footage of players singing the song.

Good post Yorkeys
I think the club could use your marketing spin. Here’s some more pearlers that could be handy around renewal time
We care, we are determined to reward our members and club supporters, we’re strong when we all commit together. You can rest assured that the staff and coaches are all working as hard as they can for the benefit of the club, we’re proud of our achievements so far, we’re moving forward and we won’t leave any stone unturned in the pursuit of sustained success

Re: Trouble on the doorstep
It is looking like another ho-hum season for the Saints. Nothing of substance since 2010, with only a brief finals appearance since then, and other than that, mostly disappointment. We don't seem to be building, and don't seem to have developed a strong character. The culture comes from the top- the president and the board and I tend to think it has been pretty weak for years, regardless of who has come and gone in that part of the club.

Re: Trouble on the doorstep
Most of us have played comp footy?
Didn't you always want to play well and go in trying hard with/for mates and self esteem.
It seems to me it takes something special to take the innate will to try and to compete to the level of your ability out of an elite sportsperson/AFL footballer. The whole scenario since the bye is bizarre. May become a what not to do case study in coaches school.

Exactly. On the rare occasion we do back a horse, it turns out to be the wrong horse. Sadly, it's looking like we've set ourselves up to repeat this mistake.

Re: Trouble on the doorstep
I don't think we have trouble on multiple levels.
Off-field we're getting so much better, the club will halve its debt this year and it will be wiped entirely by the end of next year.
We also have some of the best training facilities in the AFL to go with the Danny Frawley center.
We have record membership numbers and we have multiple marquee games in Pride and Maddie's match which are unlikely to be taken away from us.
