What was Plan B against Freo?
We obviously played hard in 5e first half and could have even been significantly ahead.
Freo made changes which is to be expected.
You lot at the game, what did you notice?
Tactically, positionally etc.,

I noticed they had a guy with two Brownlows come into the midfield.shanegrambeau wrote: ↑Fri 15 Jul 2022 10:06am We obviously played hard in 5e first half and could have even been significantly ahead.

Re: What was Plan B against Freo?
Freo's press forced us to play the boundary line. They guarded the coridoor. We tried to control possession with short kicks. Our only flow came from centre clearances, which we dominated in the first half.
After half time, they pressed harder, our skills weren't up to it. As soon as they forced a turnover, the coridoor was open, backline exposed. Once they started controlling the centre clearances, we had no scoring avenue. There didn't appear to be any tactical or positional changes once Freo got on top.

Re: What was Plan B against Freo?
To me it appeared our gameplan regressed back to 'bomb it long down the line' and 'bomb it long inside 50' once Freo lifted their pressure in the second half.
Not sure how many times this gameplan has to fail before we realise it's no good.

Are you saying that the ‘us up the boundary, then in the corridor’ thing happened both halves, but their pressure in the second did us in? Forced us into errors?Beno88 wrote: ↑Fri 15 Jul 2022 11:07am Freo's press forced us to play the boundary line. They guarded the coridoor. We tried to control possession with short kicks. That, and that we didn’t appear to have made a change, in other words we had NO plan B

Re: What was Plan B against Freo?
It took Freo a half to come up with a plan B...That was to put Fyfe in the middle. Pretty obvious move. Why'd it take Longmuir a half to realise it?
We don't have a Fyfe lurking in our forward line to move to the middle.
We were outclassed after half time.
We've been outclassed more than once this season by teams higher on the ladder than us.
At the start of the season, I had us fighting for a finals spot with Essendon, Sydney, Carlton and West Coast.
Two of those teams have dropped off dramatically worse than we have. West Coast have a genuine excuse for it.
Collingwood and Freo have gone up a gear or two.
We are still where I'd thought we'd be.
To be taken seriously, we need to stop dropping games we should win. Port Adelaide and Essendon will cost us in the long run.
Losing games against against top 4 teams is not the end of the world.
That said, we can't afford to drop tonight's game.

I don't know, but they obviously tried to kick to the corridor in the last, which kinda worked, almost

let's hope this week they work on plan C.shanegrambeau wrote: ↑Sat 16 Jul 2022 12:32amI don't know, but they obviously tried to kick to the corridor in the last, which kinda worked, almost
We'll never know if the players are confused by plan C because they are confused by most things, or so it seems.
