Team v Dogs

Post: # 1967463Post kosifantutti »

https://www.saints.com.au/news/1171494/ ... h-bulldogs

St Kilda has made three changes ahead of Friday night’s match against the Western Bulldogs, with Ryan Byrnes, Ben Paton and Cooper Sharman all returning for the Saints' all-important push towards the top-eight.

The trio all pieced together commendable performances in last weekend's VFL outing against Footscray, with Byrnes in particular a standout with 26 disposals, 10 clearances and a goal in three quarters.

The Saints will be down midfielders Seb Ross and Marcus Windhager through AFL Health & Safety Protocols, while Darragh Joyce and last week’s unused medi-sub Ben Long have been omitted.

Might be a nail in the coffin for Darragh Joyce. Pity he was never tried as a running player just to see if that may have been a better option for him

Sharman may get the chance to reinvent himself as the second-coming of Bob Murray.

Surely even his staunchest advocates would have to concede now that he’s not going to make it. He was mediocre in his performances last year and I was really miffed at just how much he was talked up afterwards… even when dropped.

Seems like a really well liked and nice individual. Would be thrilled to see him stay on at Sandy but surely, 7 odd years later this needs to be called

I don’t think so Yorkers. I think we’ve had a very good run with injuries this year. Seb and Marcus definitely blows. Major Byrnes to the emergency ward.

Midfield without Ross (been one of our betters this year) is in for some pain
I predict Bont to kick 4
Smith run rampant

Could not hold a place when the opportunity presented and he needed a few games to show his wares.

His papers have been stamped.
He needs a new job.
Will it be in Australia or back in Ireland.

Kent was overlooked

Aaron Naughton joins Josh Schache and Lachie Hunter as outs due to COVID protocols

Sharman on Bruce should be a good watch though.

Please no.
Battle on Bruce.
Wilkie will have to take English who will play forward a bit now with Street in and Schache and Naughton out . This is a major concern match up. IF Sharman is played back will be Ugle Hager.

Like Carlton game, mid field will decide this game as there backline is average at best

Yeah the midfield is where it's at isn't it, just a shame we lost Sebby because he could have swung things in our favour on paper with their outs in the midfield.

Sharman on Ugle-Hager, what a mouth watering contest that could be.

With both teams suffering major outs due to H&S protocols it should even the game up considerably, which I hope will be in St Kilda's favour.

This is a make or break match for both sides so everything will be on the line. Glad that Sharman is back in and don't mind in the slightest that he could be positioned in defence.

Midfield dominance will determine the outcome and in the absence of Ross I hope they try some bold moves such as, if necessary, have Mason Wood counter Marcus Bontempelli - the former has shown he has the versatility and composure to play all over the ground and the St Kilda midfield has lacked a big body enforcer to shake things up a bit at the contests when they start to lose the clearances.

Just my thoughts, but heck, it's high time the coaches started to pull a few rabbits out of the bag!
