It is remarkable that. Oollingwood have not been to Kardinai Park this centrury.
And neither did Carlton, for twenty seasons straight….1998-2017.
I’m getting confused at who the AFL is supporting and cheating against.
Obviously they are cheating against Geelong in favor of Collingwood, but then they favor Geelong to cheat against us.
Perhaps Curly can structure a cheating matrix.
Who gets priority favoritism.
ie. Collingwood over Geelong, but Geelong over Saints.
I think we need saintdad on this.

Re: Luck of the Draw?
So we all agree then that the AFL 'cheats' against Geelong much more than us, considering they only get 9 games at their home ground and we get 12 (plus another if we didn't sell it!)?
Glad we can all agree we get a good run from the AFL considering!
What I don't understand though is how, with all the adversity, they mange to be second on the ladder?? It's almost like none of this makes too much of a difference at all...

You mean the home games they ask for at the MCG and the greatest home ground advantage of all clubs.The_Dud wrote: ↑Thu 07 Jul 2022 2:15pm So we all agree then that the AFL 'cheats' against Geelong much more than us, considering they only get 9 games at their home ground and we get 12 (plus another if we didn't sell it!)?

Re: Luck of the Draw?
What about luck of the coach, senior that is, head man.
On first glance of the current coaches I'd rate in order:
Scott
McCrea
Longmuir
Longmire
Beverage
Hardwick
Ratts
Hinckley
Others
So some clubs have got lucky, others not so much. Seems there is limited coaching talent to go round.
We were desperately unlucky with Lyon at the tail end, who knew he was over us, no chance to plan succession, unlucky Watters was available, then after that period of rubbish unlucky no one but Richo was available.
Lucked in with Ratts, but might not be first division prize luck.
Am also wondering if performance stats suggests coaches have a limited shelf life. Then again Longmuir, Scott and Bevo seem to keep reinventing themselves and Hinckley seems a fixture.
Wish we had picked up Ratts instead of Watters but luck had it he was coaching Carlton then, was sacked a season later I believe, for inconsistent performances (no inference to 2022 intended). But its comforting to know Carlton made their own bad luck with that decision.

Re: Luck of the Draw?
I agree with Sainter Dad about relevance.
Between 2007 - 2012 we didn't have to play there.
But!!
Carlton were pretty crap from 2000-2017, Collingwood had more success, but not brilliant.
The comp will always squeeze the Bulldogs, North, Melb and St Kilda.. (Melb are so rich they can resist)
The comp will always privilege Gold Coast, GWS.
The comp will always listen to Ess, Carl, Coll and Rich
Even Eddie is banging on about it last night..the same three clubs, need to go to Tassie..shocking, awful stuff.
