Poor guy. Doomed to never play in a GF and win a premiership.

St Kilda should never trade with Essendon and Sydney ever again!!!

It was nice to have this spot of feel-good news amidst all the current gloom and doom.

As BM stated above, he’s one of our most important players. Would be good to recruit a good ruck to work in tandem with Ro after Paddy retires.

Not what the Superannuation ad says.

The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?

Good news.

I hope he improves his ruck craft over those 5 years, bridge the gap on the AFL's best rucks.

A couple of possible takes on very good news and this thread:

Rowan a future Captain/vice Captain? but in the interim a strong support for Steele in regard to play hard attitude. (Watching Max?)

SunnieErnie is absolutely gobsmacked about going from 8-3 to 8-5 in a way that might suggest past performance can be a fickle predictor. (See also law of diminishing returns, roulette wheel numbers....).
And
unfortunately his/her posts are going to be same-same if the premise of past = future is accepted. Perhaps worse now Neighbours has stopped production and he/she loses role models.(See Chicken Little)

Five years?
Weak St Kilda.
Should be four max.
Speaks to our weakness that Marshall’s manager can strong arm us.

No slant on Marshall obviously.

Marshall
Team leader
Inspirational player
Future Captain?
Super talent

Yes x 4

Bad back
Injury prone
Laboring and not playing 100% fitness
Asked to do too much?

Will break down again.

Five years?

Is that necessary?

Maybe? Look at Buddy at Sydney. 9 years, no one said it would work.
Marshall is our Buddy? Maybe, yes.

I suspect, the managers has St Kilda over a barrel.

No needs to lock a player away. What is the advantage…? To St Kilda? Why not four? And then, if the back holds up, sign another two year deal? Even with a good back.

He’s 27 this year.

And the plantar…issue

Simon Lethlean,

“This is a really frustrating injury to manage,” Chief Operating Officer Simon Lethlean said.

“It can seem a bit like one step forward, two steps back, but that is the nature of this issue.”

Does any one know what sort of money he is getting for the 5 year deal & is there any clauses in the contract ?

5 years probably allowed for less per year than a 3 or 4 year deal would. Also allows for flexibility in backweighting etc.
