Are We in the Hunt for Clucko? 🐓
Apparently three clubs are in the running and we’re one of them.
Heaven knows, we could use a bit of cluck-cluck bock-bock!

Re: Are We in the Hunt for Clucko? 🐓
My feeling is that he'd never say he's interested while his mate Ratten is at the helm. That makes sense.
Which means that the Saints will have to collapse entirely -- a series of humilating losses -- for the board to decide Ratten has to go.
IThen Clarko would be interested.
But my feeling is that the board is too dumb to realise this, and will probably re-sign Ratten even after a run of humiliating losses.

Exactly
We'd have to pay him a million +
And the AFL would go over the deal with a fine tooth comb .
At the suns/gws the AFL will pay him a million.
And they'll overlook all the other little sponsorship/ambassador roles which will net him another half a million +

In that article Caro is simply listing the clubs that she thinks might be remotely interested: ie, the clubs who haven’t got relatively settled coaches in charge. She’s not reporting on the basis of any inside information.
I’d far rather see us limit our spending on the coach and use the funds elsewhere.

Maybe instead give Hannebery another 4 year contract?meher baba wrote: ↑Tue 28 Jun 2022 6:23pmI’d far rather see us limit our spending on the coach and use the funds elsewhere.

Clarko said recently that he would go to a club that's contending.
Can't recall the words but he mentioned flag within 5 yrs or something.
We've got some guys in the 28-32 y.o. age group that won't get us there, others between 18-28 who need to improve a lot or get traded out...we're too far away.
Here's my views on who might be our core:
Battle
Wilkie
King
Higgins
Hayes (?)
Clark
Gresh
Marshall
Clarko will not come to us as we are NOT top 4 and won't be, in the foreseeable future

I think our list demographic means that we are primed to have a crack over the next 4-5 years. We have a lot of proven players with plenty of prime years ahead of them and having the chance to coach Max King has got to be pretty appealing.
It's not like we're reliant on any older players other than Ryder, and to be honest we may even be a better team without him if he's not playing at his absolute best since Marshall clearly thrives as the number one ruck.
This squad showed in the first half of the season that it can absolutely match it with the best teams...they're just playing with poor intensity and no system or belief right now which comes down to the coaches.

Lethlean said we'd overachieved with our wins, through effort and hard work.mad saint guy wrote: ↑Wed 29 Jun 2022 11:11pm I think our list demographic means that we are primed to have a crack over the next 4-5 years. He said 'it shows we aren't a top 4 team'
He's given the players the chance to play lazy, selfish footy cos in every post-match review, they can argue that Lethlean says we belong in 9th-10th spot.

Lethlean is using that to justify signing Ratten - they’ve done it already imoWellardSaint wrote: ↑Wed 29 Jun 2022 11:31pmLethlean said we'd overachieved with our wins, through effort and hard work.mad saint guy wrote: ↑Wed 29 Jun 2022 11:11pm I think our list demographic means that we are primed to have a crack over the next 4-5 years. The damming thing here is it admits that Rattens game plan are driven on scrapping, scrounging and pressure to dig out wins and get goals from intercept/turnovers
What’s become obvious (especially against good, we’ll drilled sides) is that this game plan doesn’t stack up - these sides pressure our ball carriers (look how many times Jones turned it over under heat) and they’ve worked out you sit on Sinclair to stop HB drive.
Ball movement breaks down, becomes stagnant and rebounds out of our forward line with ease putting backline under immense pressure
You need more than just hard work/pressure gane plan - that’s why our goals look laborious compared to a well drilled Swans outfit constantly delivering into open, leading forwards
Oh..and our mids are getting pantsed

Re: Are We in the Hunt for Clucko? 🐓
Sinclair got only 14 touches, his direct oppo did a number on him and got 2 goals as well (IIRC).
14 for Sincs has to be his lowest in about 3 yrs. Geez I remember he got 15 in a game under Richo in maybe 2018 and was dropped.
I don't think the Bombers are well-drilled or they'd have won more than 2 before they met our clowns.
Someone in this forum said they had seats behind goals and saw Stringer free, unmarked, at CHF for at least 5 minutes.
We lost before the game even started cos the clowns woke up in the morn, threw open the curtains and thought 'Mmmm I can smell a % booster'
