Re: Paton
Definitely in need of a run in the VFL, but he is not on his pat malone.
He’s like a deer in the headlights coming out of defence, between him and Howard I close my eyes every time they get a kick.

Re: Paton
Agree with all of the above, unfortunately.
I wonder if he is considering sueing Rough head and/or the club.
Highmore and Joyce being treated unfairly.

Re: Paton
See, I don't get this?
Paton is a lockdown small defender.
Joyce is a KPD
Highmore is an intercept taller defender
Neither of them, IMHO, are competing with Paton for a position.
They are competing with Howard, Wilkie and Battle

Re: Paton
Hasn’t returned to his 2020 form where he was Mr Reliable in a breakout and exceptional year.
It was a significant injury and he’s done ok considering.
Maybe give him a rest for a few weeks and play Highmore who deserves a chance. I think he’ll be better next year.

You tell us B.M., I'm sure you have an opinion to share. Highly doubtful you ask a question without having an answer.

Re: Paton
Seems to have lost a couple yards in pace since the injury.
Disposal by foot has been very ordinary. Hands over eyes stuff.
Might be why he rarely plays on.
Not (yet) what he showed in 2020.

Re: Paton
I'm just not convinced that any of our small defenders should be singled out after these past two woeful performances. We have bigger problems elsewhere. I'm not sure which small forwards have done a number on us. Just because our small forwards cannot kick goals, it hardly equates to an opposition small forward who kicks a goal or two, destroying us.

Re: Paton
Far from a dud.
Horribly out of form and second guesses his disposals at the moment. In form he is clearly in our best 22.
