If we lose to South Melbourne then.....
.....Sharman, Owens, Windhager, Connolly, Byrnes, Bytel and Heath need to play the remaining 8 games. Who gets dropped I have no idea. I guess if there are any players that need surgery, send them off now and maybe also tell Ryder to have the rest of the season off and prepare for next year.
If we are going to get anything out of this year we must get as many games as possible into the above 7 players!!!

St Kilda should never trade with Essendon and Sydney ever again!!!

Re: If we lose to South Melbourne then.....
If Bytel is injured then i'm not sure how he can play.
If we do play all of those players then it might look like we are tanking, depending on who gets dumped.

The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?

Re: If we lose to South Melbourne then.....
Paton, Webster, Jones, Long, Butler and Higgins being dropped would likely be and improvement, alternate Heath with either Ryder or Marshall and Highmore to replace Howard for a few games. Membrey and Sharman could also share AFL duties none of this is likely to happen even though the Saints would not lose much but Sandy may make finals and have few AFL listed players eligible to play.
Just watched Dogs and Hawks result has already pushed us to 9th and will likely drop further after this round and I doubt we can match it with the Hawks and the dogs will run all over us so the Eagles maybe our only win in a season that promised a lot earlier.

Eagles are in front of the Injectors in the final qtr.
That proves that the bummers aren't any good,
we got beaten by a rubbish team.
Being in 9th spot- our team only has themselves to blame.
Can't see us climbing, we'll drop

That's why we are St Kilda, an unsuccessful club.WellardSaint wrote: ↑Fri 24 Jun 2022 11:54pm Eagles are in front of the Injectors in the final qtr.

Re: If we lose to South Melbourne then.....
Here's a scenario:
We win.
Blues lose to Freo (very likely)
Cats beat Tigers (bookies have Cats as faves but at $1.63)
Result- we move up to 5th.
I don't see us beating Shitney at the SCG, without Ryder and with RoMa on one leg

Re: If we lose to South Melbourne then.....
What a load of bollocks.
If we lose to the Swans we can still make the finals so we need to keep trying.
Plenty of young players have had opportunities this season If they have proven they warrant them, and that will surely continue.
This year, Connolly hasn’t shown he’s worthy of selection at AFL level, so why should he have it handed to him on a platter? Heath doesn’t look to me to be near ready for AFL.
Young players don’t learn much playing for teams that get thrashed.
And those teams don’t tend to do too well in attracting good players, sponsors and members.
I’ve seen more than enough rebuilding in my time as a Saints supporter. I want us to win as many games as possible. Starting tonight.

We need to play our best possible team every week and have selection integrity. If those players are best available, then fine.SunnyErnie wrote: ↑Fri 24 Jun 2022 10:01pm .....Sharman, Owens, Windhager, Connolly, Byrnes, Bytel and Heath need to play the remaining 8 games. Do you remember the year (I think it was 2004), Collingfilth rested all their players and played the "kids" when they realised they couldn't make the top 8. The ended up with picks that got them Pendlebury and Thomas.samuraisaint wrote: ↑Sat 25 Jun 2022 9:57amWe need to play our best possible team every week and have selection integrity. I remember losing 8 in a row in 2013 and snatching pick 3 from the Bulldogs.SunnyErnie wrote: ↑Sat 25 Jun 2022 1:28pmDo you remember the year (I think it was 2004), Collingfilth rested all their players and played the "kids" when they realised they couldn't make the top 8.
