I can hear the champagne corks popping in Cairns.

Could you imagine the aerial contests with Butler against one or more of Ramp and the McCartin bros.
And in Cairns its Great Northern, or Bundy perhaps, not champagne so much, eh?

Structure.....it's important. Having three tall, mobile forwards is essential. King and Membewy will benefit.

My mistake, may have been Highett. It's hard to keep up these days where the champagne corks pop for some.

Mobile tall forwards. Marshall has been labouring recently and last Friday he was a rebounders delight for the opposition.

Marshall was playing injured a few rounds ago, when Paddy famously praised him for playing through the pain.
It must be getting worse, or oppo coaches are targeting him- telling their guys to be extra physical with him

Marshall looked like he was one leg IMO from early in the first quarter against Essendon- why was he played?WellardSaint wrote: ↑Wed 22 Jun 2022 7:54pmMarshall was playing injured a few rounds ago, when Paddy famously praised him for playing through the pain.

I reckon he got painkiller jabs before the game.spert wrote: ↑Wed 22 Jun 2022 8:06pmMarshall looked like he was one leg IMO from early in the first quarter against Essendon- why was he played?WellardSaint wrote: ↑Wed 22 Jun 2022 7:54pmMarshall was playing injured a few rounds ago, when Paddy famously praised him for playing through the pain.

Ratts n co prob thought an injured RoMa is better than a fit spud like Campbell.
Playing injured guys is very common.
Weller hurt his foot once, and was prob brought back too early, cos he was never the same afterwards.
Someone reckons 5-6 guys had the flu or something in Brisbane, but they still played.

Re: Tony74 silent...
The problem with Marshall as a forward is that he’s a horrible set shot for goal.

Marshall was labouring with a corked thigh and poor form in the first half of the season, now it's just poor form.

6.13 in his first season as a regular.
39.22 in the last 4 seasons. There’s a few he took directly from the ruck but I’m thinking most of those are set shots.

Re: Tony74 silent...
He’s a lot better in general play than set shot. I have no faith when he’s lining up, has missed many goals that would be considered straight forward, much worse than King.kosifantutti wrote: ↑Wed 22 Jun 2022 9:39pm6.13 in his first season as a regular.

Re: Tony74 silent...
This was surprising as a statement to me as I feel pretty confident when either of our rucks have a shot for goal and have zero confidence when Max does.The_Dud wrote: ↑Wed 22 Jun 2022 9:51pmHe’s a lot better in general play than set shot. So I checked the stats.
Roma 64% accuracy
King 50%

Re: Tony74 silent...
Not sure about those percentages
RoMa goes at 56%
Ryder at 73% since coming to the club (62.5% career)
I think RoMa is much better in open play, he misses way too many simple set shots.
I think Ryder is the best set shot at the club, just such a natural and easy action, he would be my pick to take a kick for goal after the siren to win a game

Re: Tony74 silent...
I think Marshall is missing in open play this year. He’s a good kick from a set shot. I don’t know if he’s really a super useful forward tho, but an opportunist. 13 goals last season, with injury. I questioned his injury status here a month back, wondering if he was laboring this year.
What do you fans who actually go to the ground notice?
Is he moving well off the ball?
Have tactics in general left him ‘off-side” as it were?
He helped us beat Sydney late last year without big Paddy. Right?

Re: Tony74 silent...
Marshall's marking power around the ground has dropped right off since he has had leg injury issues. He shoudn't have played against Essendon, and should be rested for a few weeks

Re: Tony74 silent...
My impression is that Marshall is a bit injury prone but tough as nails and plays through them.
I think he pbly needs to be rested with more regularity to stop this from becoming a chronic issue

Re: Tony74 silent...
Marshall was an on field leader...
If he is 'running on three cylinders' he is shell of himself, certainly not a leader.
His manager maybe involved too...performance clauses in contract, number of games etc.,
It is obvious that his contribution is highly valued, still, even in his compromised condition.

What concerns me is I swear we’ve heard about this foot injury for close to 2.5 years with gaps of time off here and there.
