Re: Changes v Bombers
Ins: Billings, Clark, NWM, Sharman
Out: Dmac, Wood, Windy, Owen
If Jones doesn’t come up, then bring Byrnes in for a spot on a half forward flank

The original tweet referred to a couple of handy ins.
I asked which one wasn’t handy and they deleted it.

With Jones passed and watching last week '
Out: McKenzie, Owens, Windy
In: NWM, Clark, Billings
Wood must be ? after jab in foot during the game. Long form although Ratten is a big fan
Sharman (Long) and Brynes (Wood) would be likely replacements

Re: Changes v Bombers
I don't like it either ...
In big pressure games, our small forwards do go missing.
Maybe this isn't being considered a pressure game?
What about the finals, though ... assuming we make it?

Must add a Marshall or Ryder to this mix.spert wrote: ↑Thu 16 Jun 2022 5:27pmStill prefer King, Membrey, Sharman and one of maybe Higgins, Butler or Billings
unless Sharrman improves his defensive pressure once the ball hits the ground the ball walks out of our forward line too easy which is a killer stat in todays footy.

Re: Changes v Bombers
Higgins. King. Ryder
Billings. Sharman. Membrey
This is the most attacking forward structure but not so good defensively.
All of them can mark a footy and all of them can kick
Butler can rotate off the bench and switch with either small or resting ruckman depending on match ups and state of the game.

Re: Changes v Bombers
Not while Marshall has been so out form with his marking. Marshall needs a big game this week, he has been down for sometime. Love to see him explode a kick a bag this week.
Even Membrey seems to getting all his possssions away the F50, so he is not as dangerous as he was earlier in the season.
But this weeks changes are a real positive. Essendon are playing bruise free footy so hopefully Clark & Billings can ease back in. We need a good win to regain some percentage we lost last week.

Re: Changes v Bombers
Tell Lions
Tell Cats play 2 talls
Tell blues
And Membrey has been our no 2 (with resting rucks doing squat) and can’t draw a lead/defender away from King???
And I don’t think Sharman makes us instantly a giant forward line but his game he has played kicks clutch goals whike frees up Membrey who slotted a couple and clearly looked better as 3rd forward option…,
But at least Dan (who can’t kick a goal) pressures…except for last week when in a finals type game against quality opponents they walked the ball out of our forward line
Stupid structure that’s been found out again st top sides too often

Re: Changes v Bombers
Both of you are spot on, we as a collective & King as an individual are more dangerous when we have 3 leading talls.Devilhead wrote: ↑Fri 17 Jun 2022 1:31amAdd tell Melbourne to that (Brown, McDonald & Fritsch)Teflon wrote: ↑Thu 16 Jun 2022 10:55pmTell Lions

Richmond got their break on Carlton thanks in part to the forward craft of Lynch, Riewoldt and Balta in the first quarter under atrocious conditions.
Sharman needs to be given an extended run to create some synergy with the other forwards.
Any type of forward line is only as good as the players selected. It's rubbish to claim a small or a tall forward line doesn't work. Isn't that dictated by the quality of players?

Re: Changes v Bombers
Using an evidence based argument from our 2022 sample size, and with reference to the physically taxing modern 2 way running style, the 666 rule, and also from observation of the sides that are currently sustainable top 4 sides (plus some), Tall forward lines seem to work.
