Changes v Bombers
With Wood possibly injured there looks to be at least 4 changes and more if players like Windy are dropped after a 7 possession game (a la Sharman last week)
Out: McKenzie, Jones, Owens, Wood, Windy
In: Billings, Clark, Byrnes, Sharman, NWM

Re: Changes v Bombers
Dropping Sharman and especially dropping NWM, was criminal.
Hill is not lucky.
Wood is lucky.
Clark is a God. Like NWM.
Sharman is an oily used-car salesman, but we need to sell cars. And he can do it.

Me too Pav Essendon were pretty good against Carlton we will really have to be on our game . So Billings ,Clark, NWM, Byrnes & Highmore have to be a chance . Windy has had a few average games in a row so I'm predicting Billings ,Clark, NWM, Byrnes & Highmore in for McKenzie,Owens,Jones,Windy & Wood

I don’t know why Wood gets picked.SunnyErnie wrote: ↑Sun 12 Jun 2022 12:28am100% agree. That performance by Wood was disgraceful.bigcarl wrote: ↑Sun 12 Jun 2022 12:11amSounds about right. Sharman, NWM in definitely.
Now the question of Billings, Clark, and possibly Byrnes is a tough one.
Billings
Skill yes (out Long) Billings is ahead of Long, and can play HB, wing and HF.
Byrnes
Agility, touch, energy, (out Jones)…I don’t think a so…but maybe?
Clark
Skill (no question)
Muscle on body? Confidence?
(Question)
Out Crouch?
Out Ross?
I don’t think so.
Out who?
We will shuffle.
My choice, we bring NWM, Sharman, Billings, Byrnes
Wood, Macca, Long, Windy go out.
And Clark can eat souvlakis for a mi th.

Re: Changes v Bombers
Ratten needs to inject some class into that midfield badly
Sinclair ought to play guts ease Clarke back in down back
We lack class out of there and Sincs with ball in hand from guts into forward 50 was pivotal against Pies
We also need to tell this team to stop just looking for King he had 5 on him at 1 stage and we still went there
Dumb

Re: Changes v Bombers
I don't. Remember Carlton have had a mountain of inuries and controlled the game all night. Bit of a difference playing a side who will probably play in the grand final this year, or go bloody close to it, and playing a side at our home ground who have won two games all year. Remember we played with four players down by the fourth quarter tonight. In a way we did well not to have 8 goals kicked against us in the last quarter.bangaulegend wrote: ↑Sat 11 Jun 2022 11:49pmMe too Pav Essendon were pretty good against Carlton we will really have to be on our game . Our backline has been pretty good all year. No team has come close to kicking a hundred points against us since Collingwood did in Round 1.
Our forward line malfunctioned tonight but Higgins and Butler will be better for the run. I think we look better with Sharman there too. He kicked four today in the reserves so he must be a possible in after our poor return tonight.
Sad for the injuries but most really down to bad luck. The door opens for Clark to play his first game for the year, Byrnes will get his chance too, you'd think, and Billings got over 30 possessions in the magoos so he might come in.
The Lions are a pressure hardened side who have played finals the past three years so there is no shame in losing to them at home. Of our four losses this season, the only one we lost which I pencilled in as a win prior to the season was Collingwood in Round 1. The important thing is our response. We won't lose to a team who have only won two matches all year so far.

Re: Changes v Bombers
Are posters requesting the form of Clark that played against Southport or the form of Clark prior to the alledged 2021 AFL sanctioned act of thuggery.
I think the form lines are poles apart.
He is a better player than a lot on the list, especially when he is in good form.

The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?

Re: Changes v Bombers
Out: McKenzie, Jones, Owens, Wood, ??
In: Clark, Byrnes, Billings, NWM, Sharman
Wood had 8 clangers and 44% DE. Way too many for a defence player. The next most clangers by a defensive player was Howard with 3. And Howard does long kicks so has a higher chance of a clanger.
I want Sharman in as well. Maybe for Butler. Can we afford 5 changes?

Re: Changes v Bombers
In the last three matches Sharman played in he kicked a clutch goal in each of them.
Against Essendon's defense he could kick 3 or 4, you'd think.

Re: Changes v Bombers
It's crazy to panic about last night.
We played one of the two or three top teams on their home ground, where they have a considerable advantage. We kept up with them until well into the last quarter, even though we had lost several players through injury by that time. I think that, on the whole, we performed a lot better last night that we did either against Adelaide or North Melbourne. The umpires seemed determined to give as many free kicks inside 50 as they possibly could, which helped us on occaasions but also neutralised the impact of our strong defensive unit.
Our main problem is the injuries that occurred, not that we lost. Sure, Hill and Wood had poor games, as do all players from time to time. Hill has more excuse, as he was clearly targeted by the Lions because they know he is a serious threat. But our main problem was in the middle, as seems likely to be the case until Steele comes back.
Does anyone have a clear indication of who will definitely be missing next week? I assume McKenzie and Owens definitely, but what about Jones? And what about Bytel's availability? Without knowing about Jones and Bytel, I can't say what I would do in the midfield: Clark is presumably coming in and Byrnes might well come in too, but it seems quite likely that Windhager will also keep his spot for lack of viable alternatives.
It seems that, if the fans were choosing the team, Sharman and Highmore would be the first two selected, but I honestly can't see spots for them. Butler surely cemented his place, so the only possible spot for Sharman would be that of Higgins, who IMO is demonstrating his limitations more and more every time he plays. (I'm sorry, but can there ever be a spot at AFL level for a goal sneak who can't kick straight?) But I doubt very much that the club would drop Higgins at this stage. And it looks more and more like HIghmore can only really come in to replace Battle, and I don't think that's going to happen in a hurry bar injury.
Billlings will surely come back, and most likely NWM as well, with Wood missing out.
Tentatively, I will suggest (on the basis of assuming that McKenzie, Owens and Jones are all out injured) that the changes will be
IN: Billings, Clark, NWM and Byrnes
OUT: McKenzie, Owens, Jones and Wood
We will be desperately weak in the middle, but we don't have any other options unless Bytel is available. If he is, then I'd be tempted to use him and give Clark more time at the Zebs.

Seems about right, however I like Windhager, especially in a side without Steele, Jones and Bytel. For him to play would mean in place of Lienert or Long. I believe Long would & should keep his place against Essendon.

Re: Changes v Bombers
We need an in-and-under to give Crouch a hand. No Steele. Bytel injured. Owens concussed. I’d suggest McKenzie as a left-field option but he is concussed, too. I know Windhager wasn’t great, but maybe it’s him. Otherwise it’s just back Crouch in.
Clark and Billings straight in. Also Sharman. We can’t rely on kicking it to a quadruple-teamed Max King as the sole route to goals.
Out: McKenzie, Owens (both concussed), Jones (hamstring), Wood.
In: Clark, Billings, Sharman, Wanganeen-Milera.
