Paddy McCartin!
We have to talk about PMC
Why?
Cos he is killing it
yeah, so what
he won the game for Sydney tonight
yeah?
he ran down and punched the ball into F50, for Sydney's last goal, the sealer...paddy's punch made that happen
yeah, so what?
He has taken a beating, and he just keeps going like a bulldozer
Why do you care Shane Grambeau?
because i suggested he be played in defence for St Kilda

Re: Paddy McCartin!
I think his career played out at the Saints the only way it could have.
It was inevitable that his health relating to his concussions would lead him to a decision to cut him from the list.
Then, we could not in good conscience (legal or otherwise) put the bloke at risk again. His time out of the game, plus a 'rebirth' opportunity has put him where he is now.
I don't think a move to defense with us would have changed matters. In hindsight we should have done it. But if we did, we may not have Howard.

Rapt for the kid that he persisted and got going again. I think his health will suffer big time as he gets older, but you only get one life.

Re: Paddy McCartin!
Possibly. Lol. I wasn't heavily involved in his comeback, so I must be enraptured by his resilience and perseverance.
Don't think I've ever spelled or spelt that word before. Lol. Being an 80's teen I was always rapt though.

Re: Paddy McCartin!
Still think he's foolish.
Maybe he can retire this September after winning a premiership.
Possibly by fisting the ball away from Max King in the last minute.
Wouldn't bet against it.

Re: Paddy McCartin!
It was very kind for Sydney to give him a chance and take on the risk relating to him continuing to play. He’s rewarding them for that decision.
I’m still not sure it’s a good idea medically, but there are presumably experts monitoring his situation. But I think he will always be a week-to-week proposition.
We have an excellent backline ATM and we probably wouldn’t have a place for him. And,?by moving to Sydney, He has escaped the pressure he would have always been under if he had remained with us.
It’s a win-win outcome for mine. I don’t think we’ve lost anything by his doing so well.

Re: Paddy McCartin!
Happy for Paddy. Concerned for Paddy.
We let him go because he was very unwell and we saw the risks involved in him playing football again. The correct decision was made for Paddy's welfare.
He's only one hit to the head away from it all being over for him. Let's not forget that.

Re: Paddy McCartin!
I reckon if he was still in Melbourne ,still at StK he would not have recovered with the pressure / expectation of being a no. 1 pick.
Good on him but still does ache that he was a high draft pick that isn’t with us anymore ,no return.

Re: Paddy McCartin!
Does it mean a small degree of rehabilitation for Mr Elshaugh ?
If arriving at the MCG from outer space and watching Paddy and Pettracia in the same game, you might wonder is CP the better. Of course over the whole body of their work....

You’re not alone…Leigh Montagna suggested that years ago when Richo was coach, siting Paddy’s excellent field kicking and reading of the play would be assets down back.

And how many recycled players will be Premiership players when Steele holds the cup up for us??The Fireman wrote: ↑Sun 05 Jun 2022 10:57am gee how many players have we let go that end up premiership players ?
I think overall we have done better with ins than outs
