Re: Billings, Campbell and Butler..
Good win by Sandy (if they won?) without Bytel, Owens, Windhager… basically their starting midfield
Campbell is a monster at VFL level.

Re: Billings, Campbell and Butler..
Yes they won. Kicked away in the last quarter after north came from behind to hit the front. Butler kicked 3 of his 5 goals in the 4th plus one from our ex captain.

Billing’s for Wood ?
Butler would have to take Longs spot not sure he’s better right now tbh

Re: Billings, Campbell and Butler..
Ratten has been glowing over Ben Long recently and again after the North match.
Billings is more talented but I think Ratten wants players who work hard for 4 quarters.

Re: Billings, Campbell and Butler..
I've been sending weekly bank transfers to the coach and it's paying off. He's keeping my favourite players in the team
Seriously - I think the coach will be vindicated for the confidence he is instilling in Ben Long. Long's ceiling is high.
I reckon our coach is showing faith in Longy because he knows what Long can deliver. We need players with his skills come finals time
You don't need 20 disposals each week to play your role. Long is a team player and I love the fact that he is showing self control these days too.

Re: Billings, Campbell and Butler..
I reckon Wood stays, is covering the ground and is in a surprising amount of plays (I only really notice when I watch the replay)
But he also is a genuine marking target and really can exploit a defence focused solely on stopping King and Membrey.

Re: Billings, Campbell and Butler..
Cant see any of them getting in this week unless one of the kids is sore.
Higgins could come straight in potentially for Sharman.

Re: Billings, Campbell and Butler..
IMO it’s really only Higgins and Clarke that are must ins
Rest stay in twos till they smash door down
Long had a hand in setting up multiple goals yesterday
I think (begrudgingly) it’s
Sharman out - Higgins
Webster out (quiet again yesterday). - Clarke rotate off HB into mid
It does get hard with Butler kicking 5.,.,
It’s a good spot we are in
We lost clearances but don’t think we have much to replace atm (Bytel injured I read) and working on his spread from contest ….if he could improve that to give more running to go with his grunt work he’d be a certain starter

One thing for Butler to displace Long he has to score ….Longs tackles hurt but he’s not a huge goal scorer
Whoever from those 2 brings the pressure AND hits scoreboard stays for mine
Thing is….in a tough finals contest….I think Long just has that mongrel edge (Max Rooke type from Cats) you need that won’t go missing

Re: Billings, Campbell and Butler..
Watched the replay and Owens put a lot of defensive pressure on in forward contests plus kicked 2 goals- should stay in. Although I like Sharman, I think he may go out for Higgins or Butler

Re: Billings, Campbell and Butler..
North forwards, who are not too shabby, kicked three goals. Difficult to fault that backline.
Clark and Higgins may have to play VFL again before an opening comes up and to gain fitness.
Sharman vulnerable to a fit Higgins (?) who has to come in somehow in the next couple of games.
Long in front of Butler. Stronger and much better kick. May even have more petrol in his tank and can take a big mark.
I wonder if Jones might be who Clark replaces, now that Owens is hard in and under. Jones is so quick though.
Billings has to reinvent his game a bit to add a hard edge and much more reliable set shooting.
Selectors have a first world problem, hope it stays that way.
Go the Zebs, keep that selection pressure up.
And again, god bless Mr Gallagher.
