Delistings at the end of 2022

Post: # 1957178Post axcellence »

I was looking at the list and was really struggling to come up with names.

The only people who are candidates

Hannebery - retire
Geary- retire
Kent- delist

Only other person who can go is Bytel as a trade for free to a new home. Maybe Campbell can go again as ruck back up.

Just think that by the time 2023 comes around, the pressure for spots will be just immense.

You've gone a little early axcellence :D

Absolutely agree with above, but worry Greedy Hannebery will not relinquish his cash cow without a fight.

Kent looks like he has given up the way he is currently playing at Sandy.
Does Allison have a contract for 2023?
Joyce could be surplus to needs.
Connolley?

Who is has trade value?

Allison is contracted, remember he’s only been at the club a short time and still developing physically.
I’d keep Joyce, as Adams will take time.
I like Connelly but we haven’t had any injuries to our small/ medium defenders.
Kent’s as good as gone!
Last roll of the dice for Hannebery you’d think!!

Isn’t Hannebery done come season’s end?

I hope so! The worst possible outcome with Hannebery would be he plays the last 5 or 6 games and as a result the club considers giving him another contract.

I would delist him, but leave the position open and have him do the full pre season. IF he is able to get through the entire preseason only then sign him on as a SSP on a base salary.

Even that seems to much to me.

Given what he’s already earned…
Let him do a year for free if he wants to stay on

I was bored

I think the Saints have sufficient exposed form. Usually something to look at the bye point. After the North game, the bye round is on.

For our club, the bye goes for 2 weeks 🤣🙆‍♂️

Potentially a delist and commit to redrafting situation for a few.

Yep Hanners, Geary and Kent are the obvious candidates. Hopefully Ryder plays on and I'd keep Campbell as insurance.

Lienert would need a strong second half of the season to get another contract.

If by some miracle Hannebery gets his body right, then you would give him a one year extension, especially if he contributes to the team later in the season.
Unless we get someone better, you would keep Campbell.
But Geary retires after a farewell game, though he might be of some value as an assistant coach or captain coach at Sandringham if he's still up to playing.
Just seems like the kind of guy that could be a good coach.

Think of me long enough to make a memory.

It will depend if we play finals or not, if we make finals he'll be rolled out as a specialist.

Based on proven performance I'd be looking at contract that only requires him to give four games a year in the month of September...probably another 4 year deal on that basis.

Campbell is not needed with Hayes, Heath, Ryder and Marshall in the side, but who knows if all 4 will be with us next season.

Bytel wouldn't have trade value.

Agree with the others. Joyce could also go pending a tall replacement (e.g. Adams).

I wouldn't bother. Has missed too much footy and won't be up to the pace. Only if we have needs due to injury.

Based on need and if we bring anyone in...

You’d have to think that Kent, Hannebery, Geary, Campbell and Joyce are the obvious 5.

Everyone after that is in the ‘could they still make it’ range. Would hate to see any of Bytel, Connolly, Highmore etc moved on.
