Oh OK.didn't know Bytel was struggling for form. Looked OK to me in his past two games for Dandy where he was named in the best players.CQ SAINT wrote: ↑Sat 14 May 2022 1:22pm Josh Carmichael at 22 189 and 88kg, fits our bargain hunting profile beautifully and adds that bigger bodied, tallish, bull-like, tackling midfielder, who takes a decent mark, has a strong burst when needed, has a lovely long kick and kicks goals. With Bytel struggling for form, he might be handy.

Yeah mentioned him in another thread. Looks like our type of left field pick. Well anyway, he has nominated, so I'm guessing someone is interested.Impatient Sainter wrote: ↑Mon 16 May 2022 7:52pm https://central.rookieme.com/afl/2022/0 ... ael-sanfl/

Re: 2022 Mid Season Draft
Bailey Van De Heuvel 200cm KPD playing for Bulldogs VFL has to be another chance. He is a oet comer having concentrated on cricket in his earlier years, but tall players can take longer in any event. Our future of 2 x near 200cm (including Adams) key defenders would be nice.

Plus the latest from the young guns (mid season draft prospects) v Vic Country game. They have now easily beat Vic Metro & Country (who didnt have AGS/APS players) but there must be some talent worth looking at.

Re: 2022 Mid Season Draft
A Mildura lad who sounds like the perfect fit for our list - a high possession mid who can hit the score board. Not that its a draft consideration, but I wouldnt be surprised if he has an indigenous background also.CQ SAINT wrote: ↑Mon 16 May 2022 9:16pmYeah mentioned him in another thread. Re: 2022 Mid Season Draft
Have the Saints announced that they are actually participating in the 2022 mid season draft ?
The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?

Re: 2022 Mid Season Draft
No not yet, Im just speculating or hoping? After last years sucess you would hope the club to put at least one of Coffield or Hayes on the LTI list, to open up a spot/s. I dont know how long before the MSD draft (1.6.22) club have to enter the draft? Perhaps our blokes are attempting to leave it to the last moment to hide our interest in a player/s - I remember last year Sharman had no idea we would take him?
Here are 4 x MSD draft possibilities listed by Cal Twomey today.
https://www.sen.com.au/news/2022/05/19/ ... id-season/
Casey Voss
Club: Sturt, SANFL
Age: 21yrs
Height: 182cms
Weight: 80kgs
“Yeah, he’s in the mix,” Twomey said when asked about Voss.
“There’s obviously less than two weeks to go until the mid-season rookie draft, he played well in that state game on the weekend so has obviously flickered a little bit of interest there.”
Josh Carmichael
Club: West Adelaide, SANFL
Age: 22yrs
Height: 189cms
Weight: 88kgs
“The AFL gave some exemptions over the past week and that’s really shaken the tree I think on who clubs are looking at.
“There’s a lot of interest in a guy called Josh Carmichael, 188cm midfielder who kicks goals, he comes from the country to play for West Adelaide this year in the SANFL.
“So he’s got a number of clubs looking at him with their picks.”
Brett Turner
Club: Glenelg, SANFL
Age: 25yrs
Height: 185cms
Weight: 88kgs
“Brett Turner, a 25-year-old forward, he had 38 (disposals) and kicked four (goals) against Adelaide’s SANFL side earlier this year, so the Crows have been linked a little bit to him now, they might take him in the mid-season pool.”
James Blanck
Club: Box Hill Hawks, VFL
Age: 21 yrs
Height: 195cms
Weight: 80kgs
“James Blanck, he’s a key defender, Hawthorn has been struggling a bit in key defence, they’ve had a few goals kicked on them in recent weeks.
“So the Hawks were keen to get him to train with the club for a pre-season rookie spot, they weren't allowed at that point but he’s been given an exemption to be eligible for the mid-season draft.
“They’ve had some success at the mid-season draft out of Box Hill players, they obviously took Jai Newcombe last year, James Blanck looming as another one too.”

For Clubs to participate, they must have an available Rookie list spot by 5:00pm AEST on Tuesday May 31, 2022.
Please note: If an AFL-listed player suffers a year ending injury or retires, the player can be placed on the Inactive List and be replaced by a Mid-Season Rookie Draft (MSRD) Player.

Re: 2022 Mid Season Draft
Some more interesting 19 yo available types mentioned in this article -
https://www.afl.com.au/news/763437/youn ... oys-season
BENDIGO PIONEERS
OSKAR FAULKHEAD: Faulkhead has been in dominant form playing as an inside midfielder. The 19-year-old has averaged 21 possessions and six tackles in his opening five games. He put on six kilos of muscle over the pre-season and has taken his game to another level. Faulkhead was impressive in both games for the Colgate Young Guns, collecting 58 disposals across the two matches.
DANDENONG STINGRAYS
JAI CULLEY: The 19-year-old made an immediate impact on the 2022 NAB League Boys season, amassing 49 disposals and kicking four goals across the opening two games before being sidelined by a minor shoulder injury. His performance for the Colgate Young Guns against Vic Metro elevated his status even further, racking up 22 disposals and four goals in a dominant display that was sure to catch the eye of recruiters ahead of the AFL Mid-Season Rookie Draft.
EASTERN RANGES
TYREECE LEIU: Was invited to train with Carlton over the pre-season after impressing as a tall intercept defender during the 2021 NAB League Boys season. Lieu stands at 194cm but has also shown the ability to be an inside midfielder. Has only played two games for the Ranges during the 2022 NAB League Boys season, having also played a VFL game for the Blues. Impressed the Colgate Young Guns coaching staff with his performance in the Young Guns Series.
NORTHERN KNIGHTS
SAM GRANT: The 19-year-old has moved to a key defensive post this year after previously playing forward and in the ruck. Grant has flourished in the role change. Standing 199cm, he has proven to be very tough to beat in one-on-one contests and has been one of the Knights’ most reliable players early in the year.
SANDRINGHAM DRAGONS
MAX RAMSDEN: 19-year-old Ramsden is a contender to be selected in the AFL Mid-Season Draft. Standing 202cm, Ramsden has the ability to cover the ground well and accumulate possessions. He has averaged 19 hitouts and 15 disposals per game in four NAB League Boys appearances this year. Also put in a good performance for the Colgate Young Guns in the win over Vic Metro at Avalon Airport Oval.
HUGO HALL-KAHAN: Another 19-year-old who has emerged as an AFL Mid-Season Draft contender. Has booted 11 goals in his past three NAB League Boys appearances, which includes hauls of five and four. Was also able to hit the scoreboard in the Colgate Young Guns win over Vic Country on Sunday, finishing with two majors.
WESTERN JETS
MASSIMO D’AMBROSIO: D’Ambrosio is generating interest from clubs as a possible AFL Mid-Season Draft selection after an excellent start to the season across half back. A dominant junior for Point Cook, his time in the talent pathway has been riddled with back injuries and other setbacks. However, he has remained incredibly positive, and the recent consistency of form is a result of his resilience and love for the game. D’Ambrosio put his best foot forward during the Colgate Young Gun Series, amassing 24 and 32 disposals in the matches against Vic Metro and Vic Country.

Re: 2022 Mid Season Draft
Sam Grant 199cms 90kgs is an interesting player. Was selected in last year's Vic Country squad as a forward/ruckman but this year is playing as a key defender. His size and versatility would be something our recruiters should be looking for, you would think?

Sam Grant is an interesting one, thanks IS, as is Ramsden. There's something I like about having Ramsden & Heath push each other inside an AFL system.

Re: 2022 Mid Season Draft
A lot of clubs before our pick will be looking for a genuine ruckman (eg Ramsden will go early), but players like Sam Grant 199cms & Wade Derksen 198cms (WAFL) kpp/ruckman would hopefully be on our radar. There is plenty of talent out there and last year the club nailed our picks - so hopefully they can do it again?Ghost Like wrote: ↑Fri 20 May 2022 8:37am Sam Grant is an interesting one, thanks IS, as is Ramsden. I find it exciting that the club gets a mid year opportunity to add players, as there are a lot of players over looked during national draft period that should be on a list. A classic is Ned Long a 194cm high accumulator midfielder who was taken by Hawthorn in the rookie draft and is debuting this weekend. Why we didnt snap him up with a late pick in the main draft left me wondering? Anyway in the main our recruiters have got most calls right in the last couple of years, but I still feel Allison will be a fail.

Re: 2022 Mid Season Draft
Tend to agree IS, especially with the past two years being disjointed and compromised, restricting those in the 18 to 20 year old brackets. There should be more late bloomers than usual.

If we are in the MSD then i think we need to find another Key Forward to help King.

Re: 2022 Mid Season Draft
The ruckmen are kicking goals. Heath is kicking goals in the reserves. Sharman can't stop kicking goals. We need goal kicking mids and Higgins to start kicking straighter. We also have Hayes coming back next year.
If we had kicked straight against Collingwood wood and Port and not played them in Cairns,
we'd most likely be 2nd on the ladder with the at least the 3rd highest % in the comp.

I wonder if Liam McBeam 27yo has nominated? Hes a 202cm forward/ruck doing well averaging nearly 3 goals a game for Glenelg (last years SANFL premiers). Ex Richmond listed.

He’s 28…rather a younger option.

Hopefully we will hear from the club soon to ascertain whether they are taking part in the draft and how many pick/s they free up?
