Our recent record v Adelaide
Wow, I would never have picked these numbers
Since start of 2010 our record is 3w - 13l!!
That includes 3 out of 5 at docklands
Also to be factored in is our 2w 11l record at Adelaide oval (I knew this was bad)
Bottom line… as we aspire to be a good team we have to turn around some of these negative stats

They are a proud club and they’ve lost their last 2 matches. This won’t be a walk in the park…
Or should I say…it won’t be an easy night out at Adelaide Oval

Yep, too many ugly nights on Hindley Street. Not that I expect Hindley Street to look & feel much better with a win.

Similar to our record against Geelong over the last decade. Very poor.
Agree with the OP. Need to take the crowd out of the equation early.

We won our first three vs Adelaide, and 10 of 15 between 2003 and 2011.
Outside that, we've won 3 of 28 matches. Just one of our last 12.

Re: Our recent record v Adelaide
In a sense, this match is almost as important for our credibility as the match against the Cats, and in the context of St Kilda doing St Kilda stuff the week after a credit-gaining match and losing a match we are clear favourites to win.
Essentially we'd be forgiven for being pessimistic and expecting to be dropped on our fat hairy bums just when expectation has been ratcheted up a notch.
We are St Kilda.

2 wins out of previous 15.
Not good enough.
Need to have a big first quarter.

Re: Our recent record v Adelaide
They beat the Bulldogs in Week Six...Can we beat the Dogs?
I know it doesn't work like that, thankfully.
We can do it Saints..
I thought we'd drop the Geelong and Adelaide games...and never so happy to be proven wrong.
Make it happen again.

Definitely one of our bogey teams but if we are going to be a genuine finals contender you have to win these type of games . We should beat Adelaide but we all know far too well that anything can happen in a game of footy so I take nothing for granted.

Leave nothing to chance. If we get off to a good start in the first quarter, our third quarter will finish them off.bangaulegend wrote: ↑Wed 18 May 2022 4:42pm Definitely one of our bogey teams but if we are going to be a genuine finals contender you have to win these type of games . Lost their last three.
And the first loss was by ten goals against the Giants - in Adelaide.

Re: Our recent record v Adelaide
I bask in the glory.
Adelaide fans probably think St Kilda is strong now, based on the media spin from our Geelong win AND our Geelong WIN!
But they do not realise, the only decent team we beat was Fremantle. Another remarkable WIN.
Our losses to Collingwood, Port and Melbourne will not be on their fans' minds.
But the inner Adelaide team will be well aware we are vulnerable and gettable. Especially with no Higgins, Steele, Butler and a few injury clouds.
Can you be critical of anything in our win over Geelong? They will be. They will study it.
I want Windy in now too, and NWM.
We have a few weakspots, but if we hold the line and keep to the system we'll be good.
Ross can't be asked to fill steele's capitan boots. - not even in the leadership group these days.
Geary might be re-called to be Captian.
Think about that!

Re: Our recent record v Adelaide
The simple scenario is , if we lose this game it's season over !
That doesn't mean we won't play finals , it's just if we do we're only making up the numbers .

Re: Our recent record v Adelaide
In 2016 we knocked off Geelong on a Saturday night at Docklands. All the talk following was about how we could mix it with the best and we could be finals material.
A week later we played 16th place Gold Coast. We went in firm favourites and lost by 40 points. The Geelong win was now worth nothing.
When you win the big games, you have to consolidate them. It's like winning a break-point in tennis, if you don't consolidate it, it's worthless.

Re: Our recent record v Adelaide
This will be a game where we will see if we are a finals side or not.
It's a game that in all honesty we should win and win comfortably, however, we have had a bad habit of following up a great win with a loss to a side well below us on the ladder over the last decade.
It will be a good test of where we are.

Re: Our recent record v Adelaide
Indeed.
There was no shame in losing to Melbourne but we dropped games to Collingwood and Port which we really should have won.
This is one that as a result… whilst we could and might drop, we really can’t afford to now.
Big game
