Its the perfect comment from a coach (Hardwick) saying he deserves the week but thats how he wants him to play. That hard edge is what makes good teams go to another level. This is the type of attitude I want to see from our coaches, team and club leaders.

Hardwick talks about tough and uncompromising footy, but what Mansell did was not tough and uncompromising.
It was a cheap shot to the back of the head in a pack with his opponent laying face dirst toward the ground.
I'm all for a hard edge with tough and uncompromising footy but the cheap shots are not on. It's like Cotchin's kick to Walker a few weeks ago. Nothing tough about that.

+1 - I couldn't agree more strongly. That is the sort of stuff that they had Lynch doing. Trying to look tough but being a coward.Life Long Saint wrote: ↑Thu 12 May 2022 3:01pm Hardwick talks about tough and uncompromising footy, but what Mansell did was not tough and uncompromising.

There is nothing hard edged about that act.Impatient Sainter wrote: ↑Thu 12 May 2022 2:23pm Its the perfect comment from a coach (Hardwick) saying he deserves the week but thats how he wants him to play. It is about as soft an act as there is in football, it is cowardly.
Two elbows to the back of the head of a player on the ground.
The player is a coward the only way to describe him.
It is players like him that we want out of the game permanently.
If he was playing Rugby Union he would have coped a red card and six weeks for a weak act like that and it would have been justified.

I obviously didnt see what Mansell did, but its the message that Hardwick is showing that I like. Ginnivan is a little c**k sparrow and if it takes a cheap shot to slow him down then so be it. None of us were too concerned when Stevie Baker was running around playing uncompromising footy, thats the attitude we need to get back to. Have the opposition looking over their shoulders and know that we tackle to hurt them.

Deliberate impact to the body while the player isnt expecting it is a part of the game especially from the second and third player to the ground contest. The only mistake made was the contact was with the head.

Interesting story doing the rounds re: Hardwick giving Tiger players the greenlight to smash Ginnivan after he supposedly directed a racial slur at Edwards ..... not sure if true but that's the rumor going around.
Interesting if Ginnivan plays this week

Ginnivan has put a target on himself. I reckon he should wear it, its the head we all wanna punch. Front, back, side, who cares.

Cowards do it when the other guy is prone and vulnerable.
Do it when they're face to face, but avoid the head.
You can't go have a beer after the game with the other guy, when you've done a dog act.
But when you've hit em in the body, you can

Its not about cowardice Wellard, it's about what it takes to win a game of footy. Sometimes you have to get nasty and find a way to hurt an opponent to earn their respect. I'm not suggesting our blokes run around belting players, but just start playing with some mongrel.
We are way too nice and that starts with our leaders, they have more heated discussions with their own team mates, than what they've got to say to the opposition.
It would be nice to see our players show some emotion when their opponents make them look stupid. Get in the oppositions faces and let them know it means something. Break the opposition's focus get them thinking or worrying about where you are coming from.
