Votes v Demons
I’m starting the thread, but sorry…. not in a frame of mind to give votes atm. I’ll watch the replay first
Really pissed off at some of the embarrassing passages of play from our players. They gave them too many easy goals. Battle, Wilkie and Webster and Paton were terrible.
Forwards not much better. Our delivery inside 50 is woeful. A lot of wasted opportunities and our forwards aren’t smart. They don’t help each other, block for each other or work hard enough.
We had 44 entries for just 15 shots at goal. Our best user for the day was Ben Long. He’s usually high up in disposal efficiency percentages. Went at about 84% today. Gresham was 53%. I know they don’t play the same position but we have to get the ball into the hands of guys that can deliver better inside 50.

Re: Votes v Demons
Sincs went kick chasing I thought and was receiving the footy in the wrong position. Forced to kick on his non preferred at times.
Sinclair was a bit down on score involvements today. DE was only 65%. He needs that to be up over 70% to have more impact on game result

Re: Votes v Demons
Just got home . Have to admit I left a few minutes early to beat the traffic.
I really struggled to work out the votes for this one. We were comprehensively beaten early, but at least we kept having a crack, so I have favoured players who I thought worked to get to contests , or were in an under, or showed some spark at stages
3. Tim Membrey .
3. Jack Steele .
2. Brad Crouch
2. Mason Wood
2. Dougal Howard.
2. Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera
1. Josh Battle
Slightly adjusted after I realised I had initially only allocated 13 votes !

Re: Votes v Demons
I thought one of the hardest workers was Brad Hill. Up until a couple of errors late in the game he was easily in the votes for me. Kept running and doing everything he could to lift the side in the second and third quarters. He is coping with the bruises a lot better than when he first turned up at St Kilda
Since mid last year he has been a role model and been very consistent. Good leader on the field too

Tough game but we gave it a crack and held on . Whilst we lost not a disaster. Delivery into King and fwds was crap. Dees were on their game .
5. Crouch ( good signing)
4. Steele
3. Battle ( solid and is stepping up this year)
2. Ross
1. not sure plenty of contenders

Re: Votes v Demons
Howard, Wilkie and Battle did all that they could. Crouch and Membrey tried really hard.
I didn't think Sinclair was as good as usual and wouldn't give him a vote.
So
5 Howard
4 Crouch
3 Membrey
2 Battle
1 Wilkie
Hill was next best.

Re: Votes v Demons
Didn't get a chance to watch the game & I sure as hell don't want to watch the replay so no votes from me this week .

Re: Votes v Demons
I rate Jakey's votes...but I didn't see the game...
He rates out of 10.
I think he gives a few sevens as max ...Crouch, Hill, etc. and he gives Butler a very generous...5 on the basis that it is his default score for players under duress playing on through injury

Re: Votes v Demons
3 Howard

2 Steel
2 Sinclair
1 Membrey
1 DMac
1 Wood
1 Ross
1 Crouch
If Wood nailed a few of his shots at goal I would have given him a 2 or 3. Wood and DMac very good with metres gained as were Hill and Ross and Sincs. DMac one of our better ball users. Disposal Efficiency for Dan was 77%. If Sinclair or Ross were cleaner with their ball use (I'd give them higher votes). Both had 5 x i50 entries for little return.
If Membrey hit a target with one of his four inside 50's I'd also have him higher up. He works as hard as anyone, but his field kicking inside 50 needs work. Maybe it's better if he stays deep and King does the grunt work to provide a contest high up the ground or at CHF just forward of the centre. I reckon Max might hit targets better than Tim
DMac was good defensively and unlucky not to have got a free against Kosi Pickett for a head high hit. Dan was good enough to retain the footy and it was called a ball up. Just seconds later after the ball up, Kosi was awarded a free for a high tackle which was an incorrect call. Crouch had 20 of his touches early in the game when we got killed at centre bounce and at stoppages around the ground. I thought most of his touches were insignificant in the first half. He and Seb put in a good last quarter.
Good effort to fight back after being 47 points down. We were only 4 goals down late in the game and we had some momentum when the ump paid 2 wrong free kicks which cost us goals. The first was to Pickett and the second was paid to Harmes - against Brad Hill when Brad hadn't taken clean possession. It was either play on or if the ump thought he did gain possession then no prior opportunity was the correct call
