Umpires killed us in the first half
Melbourne allowed to “dispose” of the ball anyway they liked
Stroll inside the prohibited zone, nothing
It was seriously disgraceful
Obviously was not the reason but didn’t help

They killed us all match
Stevic was ok as far as I can recall but there was this new bloke who was fkn totally incompetent ( either that or he grew up as a Dees supporter and he just couldn’t help himself)

Re: Umpires killed us in the first half
Love the rolly eyes thing. Love how you make up stuff. Read my post. I never said umpires cost us the game
Umpires can’t be the difference when a side is down by 4-5-6 goals during the game and 7 goals at one stage like we were
They just gave me the shitts when we looked like at least having a respectable loss or getting close and there was a a free to Pickett just immediately after DMac was smashed in the head and no free was paid. DMac needs to learn to throw the head back and grimace and pretend he’s really hurt and in pain.
A couple of other frees to them and non frees to us in that last quarter had me screaming my head off when I’d been relatively calm all day

Re: Umpires killed us in the first half
Great thread.
Langdon tackled drop kicks it play on
May no eyes for the ball cannons into King mark to Melbourne
Constant tackles on Oliver Viney Pettracca unrewarded
That was the first quarter.

Re: Umpires killed us in the first half
The umpiring was poor - in fact, very poor.
Since when has a player (May) been allowed to use 2 hands to push a player (King) away so he cannot contest a mark, allowing a teammate to mark uncontested?
Then there is "holding the ball" and disposal of the ball.
Totally inconsistent from contest to contest.
And today those inconsistencies gave advantage to Melbourne.
We have to work on the physical side of our game and mature our younger and less experienced side to inflict physical damage on the opposition, ball in hand or not.

Steel taken high play on blood pissing out of his head.
We seriously must have most skilful players in the League. We can be getting slung kick on our opposite 50 meters and can be deliberate

Re: Umpires killed us in the first half
That they did champ, that they did, but worse in the second half. Evidently if you wore red and blue you can drop or throw the ball when you are tackled, but that was a no no for the guys in the tricolours even when subjected to a dangerous tackle.Scollop wrote: ↑Sun 08 May 2022 4:41pm What are you talking about…. With more than a little help from their friends in that ghastly yellow, the demons were a bit too good for us ...today..
Would like to play them in the finals.

Re: Umpires killed us in the first half
Further to this
The Brad Hill intercept was no mark went 10 metres at best, look at the mown grass strips… play on, yes he may have got the goal anyway
Followed by the Hill HTB, which was either a sling tackle or play on. If umpires are going to pay those as ball, then there will be 50 a game. Arguable that he even had possession
Umpire #17 was the worst, although not sure if the above two were him

Watched whole game but the first half outrageous. Did we even get a FK in the first quarter?

Re: Umpires killed us in the first half
Umps weren't great but ya know what?
Kick goals
Stop the opposition kicking goals.
Umps can jam it.
Even if they wanted to cheat us ( and they don't) it won't matter because we're kicking ass.
I had an ump crazy mate during 96-2001.
He did all the stats on St Kilda...I agreed it looked askew.
Then for unknown reasons he did all 5 seasons ....every game. Yep. Took him 9 mths. Yes, he is morbidly obese, single with a small dog & 2 cats....how'd you know?
But Ron's info smashed us all ( poker night crew....Ron inherited his dad's table and gear and the junk was legit Vegas quality).
It basically showed umps made lots of mistakes in every game for every team. Worst part was the most 'cheated' team was Collingwood in that 5 yr period. I was furious.
He discovered alot of cool stats about which ump called what most commonly. He showed how St Kilda got away with more kick in violations than any other team. In 96/97 Everitt got away with more shepherds than any other player...I was pretty keen on reading all his findings then 36 seconds into it I was like, nah.
We ALL hated the Pies and never spoke of Rob's ignorant time wasting ( and obviously wrong) research. He still has the data on a USB and has offered to sell it to Eddie McGuire once, Eddi was interested but not at $5000. Lol
See how it works?

Re: Umpires killed us in the first half
How is it that Seb Ross rushes a kick under pressure, it goes 40m forward and dribbles out of bounce, has a free kick paid against him.
Max Gawn gets tackled by Jack Steele and just decides I won't try to get rid of it, I'll just take five steps and walk across the boundary line and drop it. No problem Max, we'll just throw that one in if it's OK with you.

Re: Umpires killed us in the first half
Our players are the best kicks in the AFL. When the ball goes out of bounds after we kick it no matter the pressure or what foot we mean it.kosifantutti wrote: ↑Mon 09 May 2022 10:38am How is it that Seb Ross rushes a kick under pressure, it goes 40m forward and dribbles out of bounce, has a free kick paid against him.
