Is it time for the Sandringham Saints?
Why are we the only AFL team affiliated with a VFL team that has no ties to the AFL team?
Melbourne (Casey Demons) and the Hawthorn (Box Hill Hawks) are the only other teams that don't have an AFL team in the VFL.
Why aren't we called the Sandringham Saints?
Why isn't the jumper similar to our AFL jumper (or a variation of it)?
It's time that we make the change and become one Saints.
On the jumper, surely one of our old strips (or a variation of it) could appease the Zebras...

Well...I think so. In lieu of a St. Kilda VFL team, we need to have the sense of a true reserves team. We're tyre only ones tat don't.
Important for player development.

I prefer Sandy to stay Sandy. And their colours of yellow black and blue collar are nice. They are 92 years old. That said, a St Kilda-like panel would be neat. Keep the black, swap white for yellow and replace red for blue. Then the emblem in the black could be a saints on in red
You're quite brilliant Shane, yeah..terrific!

Need to respect Sandringham who have their own identity. Leave it the way it is.

A standalone VFL team may not be the right answer, check this fact...
The six Victorian standalone VFL clubs have only won seven of their 30 games so far this season.

The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?

Sandy’s clash jumper Is horrible and amateurish
Looks like it was designed by a 6 year old.

Sandy still has a strong supporter base and culture apart from the alignment, don’t think the club would wear a further take over of their identity by a change to the name. No real benefit to us either in reality.Life Long Saint wrote: ↑Mon 02 May 2022 4:50pm Why are we the only AFL team affiliated with a VFL team that has no ties to the AFL team?

It’s time for a stand alone St Kilda reserves teamLife Long Saint wrote: ↑Mon 02 May 2022 4:50pm Why are we the only AFL team affiliated with a VFL team that has no ties to the AFL team?

St Kilda should never trade with Essendon and Sydney ever again!!!

I know several old school Sandy members who think St.Kilda have ruined the club.

Re: Is it time for the Sandringham Saints?
Lists are going to get smaller.
The current VFL set up of 21 teams can’t sustain itself and it’s not giving players competitive pressure that motivates them.
Gap to AFL getting bigger.
Now I’ll see myself out before I say this..
I feel footy should have 16 or at most 17 on the field. Fewer collisions, more scoring and more talent to spread between the teams.
Now we have 18 on the field and effectively five on the bench. Fully five more than when we won our flag! (Nite teams are abusing sub rule already)

I kind of like Sandy having their own identity, colours, ground etc and the fact that we haven’t attacked their identity

Re: Is it time for the Sandringham Saints?
I think it’s pbly fair enough in a lot of respects. No doubt we’re a big part of them surviving into the new state comp but the reality is that they’re half a standalone club and half our reserves and there’s a conflict there that we need to navigate more

Re: Is it time for the Sandringham Saints?
I think the reality is that we saved the club.
I read that we were all set to implement our own VFL team and end the relationship with Sandy. But they asked us to stay because, they'd have to leave the VFL otherwise.
I thought the best option we had was to take over Frankston when they were on the brink of folding.
Become the Frankston Saints and everything else would align.
We, like all the other teams, need a state level team that we totally control. We need to be able to mimic the senior footy style in the twos so that we can slot players into a role when needed.
