St.Kilda and Port have to both publicly blast the AFL for scheduling last night's game in Cairns.
The game was played in 88% humidity and it has handicapped both teams for next week's fixtures.
Any hope we had of knocking of Melbourne has evaporated, even if we had won, as we will run out of legs in the 2nd half, if not sooner next week.
Port only has a 6 day break before they play the Western Bulldogs on Friday night and the same thing will happen to them.
When the AFL started playing games in Darwin, inevitably, whoever played there lost the following week as they played in around 60% humidity.
The AFL learned from this and started to schedule those games so that the teams had a bye the following week.
If, due to contract, we have to play there again next year, the club needs to rock firm in its stance that the game needs to played in the 2nd half of June or first half of July with both teams having their bye the following week.
If the AFL refuses to accommodate, both teams should send essentially a 2nd's side to compete, or refuse to go altogether.
Both St.Kilda and Port should blast the AFL!

We played there last season in winter, we got the exact same result and the next week we thrashed Richmond. I am not making excuses for the players should they lose next week.Bruce G McAbee wrote: ↑Sun 01 May 2022 1:02pm St.Kilda and Port have to both publicly blast the AFL for scheduling last night's game in Cairns.

It doesn't matter when we play these fixtures because we play to the script and fail to execute the game plan anyway.
