As soon as the conditions were known we should have made a change.

Absolute liability to take two ruckman into a game played in those conditions

Difficult for Campbell to pick the ball off the ground.
Wood also struggled
Memo don't play Wood in the wet.
Play him in the dry.

What play a ruckman and a big bodied midfielder in poor conditions
[We smashed them in the Hit Outs though]

Something like Paddy and Battle???

Who would have thunk it?
Oh - Port did - hmmmmmm
[And they told us that when the team sheets were released]
[We had Lienert as an Emergency - Campbell for Lienert would have been an easy swap with Battle playing forward and helping ruck]

Should have stuck with Lienert and used Battle as the second ruck.

I thought Campbell was ok considering the conditions. Certainly not a complete spud like Hunter

Agreed, I actually though Highmore could come in and replace Battle in defence with Battle taking the Marshall/ Hayes role in support of Paddy.

Number 4 ruckman at clubs are rarely stars. He wasn't the reason that we lost.

I thought he was OK

Took a couple of clunks and was alright at stoppage

Wet game, lot of ball ups - I would’ve selected him

He’s never going to be a star - he’s a back up ruckman

He's ok. He is what he is, back up. If you had ever played at Cazaly's at night after a big wet you might be less critical. AFL was not meant to be played in the tropics, do so and suffer the consequences. Ever wondered why there are no big towns up North of Townsville (a military base) and Thursday Island.

Even if I'd never played footy in NQ and I've played plenty, I would not have picked Campbell.

He did ok for a second backup ruckman.

We really missed Marshall and or Hayes.

He hadn't played in 2 weeks, hadnt trained in team session for 7 days in iso, it was going to be slippery and he is a spud. Why the f*** would you. They had better structure options and just f***** ignored them.

I wish people would stop trying to look for scapegoats

It’s a team game. How the f*** can you you blame a few individuals for the loss?

The other really puzzling thing is that both Wood and Campbell were ok. I don’t think they were worst on ground for us.

Hiigins and King had 3 effective disposals each. I know that King kicked 2 goals but he was non competitive when it came to any work or contest up the ground and that miss from 15 metres out probably cost us the game

I'm.just wondering why we go tall in the tropics and play a kick and run game Scollop.
While Lienert is sitting twiddling his fingers and we have speed to burn in the VFL.

Yeah agree but the coach would have been crucified if he went into the game with just Paddy Ryder as sole ruckman. First of all we don’t want Paddy breaking down and second of all we couldn’t afford to play Battle in the ruck with both T Marshall and M Georgiadis in their forward line.

We had more hit outs and more clearances. More contested possessions.

We had more inside 50’s and more shots at goal but we couldn’t convert. That’s where we lost it.

Accurate kicking and that first use and height looks like a great decision.

In everyway except the scoreboard it looked a win.

Hayes is a big loss as he can play second ruck and hold down a key forward position. Not sure that Campbell can, though he’s adequate as a second ruck.

What is the latest on Max Heath? Possibly not physically ready yet?

I’d have picked him every day of the week when Marshall was listed as unavailable

I thought he did ok in his role

Not sure Ryder was that great either?

Max Heath looks Ok

Raw, skinny and lanky

Pretty aggressive

I’d say 2 years off getting a game- did ok today
