Freo player on our radar
I believe we are right into a Freo forward who would play wing at St Kilda should he return home next season.
Big talent but injury prone to date.
Great left foot kick, very good over head and quick.
Younger version of Mason Wood in size and style.
Perhaps or perhaps not one of the ITK can confirm/ deny.

Re: Freo player on our radar
Sturt, 2 years hampered by knee and ankle injuries.
Another bargain, rehab project? Shouldn't be too hard to pluck out of Freo, if he isn't delisted, who have most of their un-contracted players sewn up and some spare cash for a marquee recruit.
Wood, Sharman, Allison, Sturt. Hmm, injury free, he'd be a good chance to hold his own in that company. Smart kid, decent skills.

Re: Freo player on our radar
Another injury prone player - no thanks.
Would prefer a moneyball state league player who is durable and all ready to go.
We have enough players who miss half a season at least, which isn't their fault, but I think the club needs to avoid players who come to the club with a history of being injury-prone. We have enough already, thanks.

Re: Freo player on our radar
I must say I hadnt heard of him before now.
https://central.rookieme.com/afl/player/sam-sturt/
I just went looking for his WAFL stats, he has hardly played the entire time he has been there. When he did play he averaged 13 possessions and a goal a game. He was taken at pick #17 in the 2018 draft, I would suggest Freo would be disappointed with their investment. He didnt play over the weekend and I cant see how he would have attracted our interest?

Re: Freo player on our radar
My understanding is that both St Kilda & Melbourne were very keen on him in his draft year.Impatient Sainter wrote: ↑Mon 18 Apr 2022 9:28pm I must say I hadnt heard of him before now.

I would not think it unusual to monitor a local player when he moves interstate.
If you could pick him up for a 3rd or 4th rounder there could be plenty of upside.
Talent is there, question is durability.
The injures have not been repetitive soft tissue such as Freeman endured.
I'd be keen to hear one of the ITK comment.

Re: Freo player on our radar
Im not suggesting your mail isnt on money DB, I am just wondering where our interest stems from? In the article I posted he was quoted as a bolter and hasnt done much in his time with Freo. His athletic traits seems first class, but they had question marks on his endurance which should be his main strength for a wingman/HFF. This will be his 4th year on an AFL list so hopefully he can show something throughout the season? I will keep an eye out for him...

Are the club are looking for a player to replace Sharman?Impatient Sainter wrote: ↑Tue 19 Apr 2022 5:11pm Im not suggesting your mail isnt on money DB, I am just wondering where our interest stems from? He is from the Peninsula, so I guess he wants to return home from the Purple Haze.

4 games, goals in 3 of them, rising star award on debut.
Not sure what more you would expect. The concerns are obvious though.
He is a bit light but appears to pretty hard, maybe not flint hard.
Has that good VFL player, not quite up to the standard, look about him, maybe?

Re: Freo player on our radar
Fits the profile type of player we have been recruiting the last few years , natural footballer and/or a good athlete, and perhaps a few cm shorter than ideal eg Hayes, Sharman, Wood, Highmore, Wilkie, Allison
Hard not to back our recruitment teams recent efforts which has had more hits than misses.
Certainly worth further investigation if he doesn’t cost us much in terms of picks.
