Highest Scoring Team

Post: # 1947707Post ace »

Saints are the highest scoring team in the league at the moment now to tighten up the defence.

Paton needs to stop getting caught in possession trying to immediately fend off.
An immediate fend off is now deemed prior opportunity.
Better to allow immediate tackle, normally deemed no prior opportunity so ball up.
Otherwise immediate handball, or don't take possession, knock the ball on.

Mids need to defend against the quick break that has left the saints two goals down within 2 minutes of the start.

"Since Round 15 last year, the Saints are fifth for points against and third for points against from turnovers. It’s a strong profile and if they can combine that with an improved midfield (Jack Sinclair deserving plenty of credit there) and forward line (Bradley Hill looking excellent at half-forward, Max King continuing to emerge), this group can definitely play finals."

Our defence and forwards have been waiting on our midfield for a while. Kicking straight helps, but if we fixed one thing from last year, we played finals, that was our kicking.
So many times we fought our way into games and fluffed it kicking for goal. It seems that's fixed
Messieurs Higgins, Sinclair and Gresham are the game changers we need firing.
If they drag Hill, Butler, Long, McKenzie, NWM and Windhager along with them our running power will be frightening and the older heads of Steele, Crouch and Ross can go to work on nullifying stoppages and forcing turnovers from our back half.

Not if it is St Kilda doing the tackling
