Re: Ben Patton
I really don't know what was going through Justin's head when he named his son. Must be a big Blues Brothers fan.

Perhaps Elsternwick was too hard to spell.magnifisaint wrote: ↑Thu 07 Apr 2022 9:12amI really don't know what was going through Justin's head when he named his son. Must be a big Blues Brothers fan.
I think it's a pretty cool name. Even cooler if he ends up a Premiership player for the Saints.

His other sons are Jet and Ace
Pretty funky names
Elwood is pretty tall and a real talent could play almost anywhere at this stage?

Re: Ben Patton
I have a memory of Frankie's game against Meth Coast Eagles, when he was asked to mind a 17 y.o. Ben Cousins.
Benny boy got 4 goals in the last qtr.
I'm sure Frankie was supposed to mind him.
IIRC it was about May 1996 but I could be wrong

You don’t reckon Ben tore a few opponents apart over the journey

Re: Ben Patton
If you're a paid professional footy player with experience, you don't let a bloody teenager make a fool of you.
After the second goal, you tighten up and wear him like a glove.
You don't get arrogant and assume your age+experience will win the bout

Re: Ben Patton
In 1996 Justin Peckett was in his 4th year.
Matt Rowell dominated his first 3 games - who were his opponents?
Teenagers can have ability, not the first kid to dominate a game.
As I said, all time great! Ben could play a bit!!!

Re: Ben Patton
Good comparison with Nick Smith. Hugely underrated outside of the SwansGhost Like wrote: ↑Wed 06 Apr 2022 12:42pmNot a bad St Kilda comparison. I've always seen Paton as our Nick Smith. Nick was a midfielder for Oakleigh Chargers (with Robbie Gray) & Scotch (with Cyril) before becoming a Premiership & AA back pocket with Sydney. Eddie, Cyril, Robbie Gray were all notches on his belt, Milney as well.
