The praise doesn’t get much higher than it has for Max King in recent days.

The Saints forward’s four goals led the team to its comeback victory over Richmond, and it’s prompting talk he could well go down in history among the all-time great full-forwards.

The performance, in conjunction with his Round 2 showing in the win over the Dockers, has earned him the plum gig as full-forward in the Herald Sun rolling All-Australian team, and Brisbane great Jonathan Brown is firm in his belief that King will only get better.

“He’s playing with real presence and vigour this year,” he said on Fox Footy this week.

“He went back and not only took the big marks, he kicked some unbelievable clutch goals. Big kicks.

“That’s an intangible — the ability when you’re having a bad day … to dominate a game and drag your team with you.”

Brown maintained that “very few key forwards have” that ability, and said King could in the future sit among the likes of Lance Franklin and Wayne Carey in the years to come.

“With his physical abilities, I think that’s why in 15 years time, he could be in the same conversation as Franklin and Carey,” he said.

“He’s got a lot of gifts. His trajectory is sensational at the moment. It’s great to see.”

Angus Brayshaw’s 20-mark performance on the wing earned him a berth alongside star midfielder Clayton Oliver who only continues to deliver, while Carlton key back Jacob Weitering holds down the defence of this week’s team.
