Re: Billings setback
Disappointing for sure but ATM he might struggle to get a gig . A week is a long time in footy but if the blokes on the park keep the effort we produced today going to be difficult to drop someone.

Remember
For 2 and a half quarters we were staring down the barrel
With a number of non contributors

Re: Billings setback
Fair call but they both contributed to very impressive win in some way even though they didn't light up the stat sheet

Re: Billings setback
I think NWM is being pretty impressive for a stick thin 2 gamer.
Tracking very well IMO. Got 12 touches and keeping his composure. I’d certainly keep playing him for now.

Re: Billings setback
Can cover Billing’s
Hunter Clarke would be nice
Personally I’d like to see us go on a skills offensive and get Connolly in with him Sincs and Hill plus NWA think we’d cut through many sides ..

Re: Billings setback
I think Connolly or Byrnes may be the medi-sub this week but agree, I'm looking forward to Connolly getting an opportunity. A good decision maker with equally good skills.

Re: Billings setback
I agree that Billings has to come back in, but not at the expense of NWM. He’s our future and while he’s contributing ( which he is) he should stay. His skills are a breath of fresh air. He may need a break at the end of the year but don’t drop the kid.
Hayes may come out however unless he can clunk a few as we may be a bit too heavy

Re: Billings setback
You might have thought we were staring down the barrel, I thought we were rolling it. There was about 20 minutes in the third when I feared Richmond. The rest of the game we were equal and in the last 50 mins we were much much better.

Re: Billings setback
Yes, for two quarters we were pretty much equal.
For half a quarter we were poor and nearly broken.
For one & a half quarters we owned them.

Billings and Clark are a cut above DMac, Hayes and currently NWM (who will be good)

Re: Billings setback
DMac is closing the gap though, don't you think. Left footer, tough as, can run and sprint. And takes a mean catch.Banger9798 wrote: ↑Tue 05 Apr 2022 12:17pm Billings and Clark are a cut above DMac, Hayes and currently NWM (who will be good)
Improving all the time after a lot of disruptions and I think may have a hardness factor the other two, for all their skill and courage, might not have.
Say like comparing diamond hard to set concrete hard. Of course nothing compares to Steele (TM) hard.

He’s just about closed the gap me thinks and he’s doing it right now and the others aren’t.Yorkeys wrote: ↑Tue 05 Apr 2022 12:40pmDMac is closing the gap though, don't you think. The general principle would suggest that players who have been out of the team have to prove themselves again. You’re only as good as your last game or 2.
Holder of unacceptable views and other thought crimes.

Re: Billings setback
It’s funny
It’s only a bit over a year ago Alan Richo was a moron for resigning DMac (even though that wasn’t his job or decision?!)
Now he’s better than Billings
Who is nearly a goal per game, 20ppg HF who has 40 odd Brownlow votes
McKenzie I don’t think has polled?!
I think Dan is a very different player to JB … more defensive
But on pure ability- they are not in the same class.

Re: Billings setback
The great thing about Billings is that without him we wouldn't have got Jack Sinclair. So, although we regret not using pick three on Bontompelli, it actually netted us Billings and Sinclair. Which is a pretty damn good outcome!!
