Acres Cleared by MRO
The incident involving Fremantle’s Blake Acres and St Kilda's Max King from the first quarter of Sunday's match between Fremantle and St Kilda was assessed. The ball is loose in St Kilda’s forward 50. Acres and King approach the ball from opposing directions and high contact is made by Acres on King. It was the view of the MRO that Acres was contesting the ball and had no realistic alternative way to contest the ball. No further action was taken.
I thought there was a similarity to the way Long attacked the ball when Darcy headbutted his hip. Funny how the MRO saw Acres attack differently.

Which colour Wiggle is the MRO?
And why isn't there a satirical comedy show based on his weekly reports and tribunal findings.
Cause he/they are taking the piss aren't they. Surely.

Re: Acres Cleared by MRO
The position should be renamed the "Consequences Review Officer." It's not what you did but how it affected the other player. Had Max King been knocked out, had his neck broken or some other injury that caused him to miss weeks, the result would have been different. The problem with this approach, apart from the inherent inconsistency, is that it encourages players to continue with dangerous actions.
The description of the act is also wrong. It should read like this:
"The incident involving Fremantle’s Blake Acres and St Kilda's Max King from the first quarter of Sunday's match between Fremantle and St Kilda was assessed. The ball is loose in St Kilda’s forward 50. Acres and King approach the ball from opposing directions and high contact is made by Acres on King. King chose to bend down to pick up the ball. Acres chose to lay a bump on King rather than a tackle. It was the view of the MRO that Acres was going for the opponent and not the ball. This was reckless and warrants a one match suspension in order to discourage the action. The MRO notes that no free kick was paid to player King. The umpire is suspended for a week as well."

Re: Acres Cleared by MRO
Did I see Acres sling King to the ground in a dangerous tackle at another point in the match?
I don’t like Acres anymore. Has the attributes to be a really good player, but isn’t.

I think Acres is a spud, but, he keepings getting games, oh, and Freo doesn't seem to be improving.
The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?

Acres, another who looks like Tarzan and plays like Jane and you can just hear the vibration of tiny his brain on his thick forehead, droning away, "do something physical, look aggressive", usually as he chases the ball across the boundary line, or tackles someone who was in the right spot for a tackle but doesn't actually have the ball.

Surely not a joke - LOL - actions like those against Hunter Clark were going to be targeted this year - Hhhhmmmm - maybe not against St Kilda!

Re: Acres Cleared by MRO
After Xavier Clarke got knocked out off the ball they cracked down on off the ball hits
After Kosi got polaxed by Gia they cracked down on the head high bumps
After Hunter got his Jaw smashed by McKay they cracked down on duty of care entering a contest
Now After King was bumped high… are they going to crack down on something else
