I reiterate my comment from the last injury to Hanna thread.
P155 him off , so maybe we can pick up someone in the mid season draft .

Me too. Four years with a fifth if certain conditions are met. FFS put a fork in him. Please.

We’ve been playing with one arm tied behind our back since he’s been on the list.
It’s time for him to go, along with all those involved in bringing him to us.

I agree, Hannebery should be retired now and the AFL should investigate Simon Lethean's role in recruiting him.
Actually, Lethean should resign as well and should never be President.

Think of me long enough to make a memory.

Re: Surprising news. Hannas injured.
Hannebery is symbolic of our club in so many aspects. We needed a fit, healthy A grader to lift our side, inspire our kids, encourage supporters and play football worthy of a marquee player's salary. That's not happened and here we are, a low to middle tier club with a 2nd coach who has not had the services of the club's "war chest" marquee player.
Hard to imagine that a driver of his recruitment would actually get promoted - we are St Kilda, the club with the worst #1 draft selection in history matched by the worst "Big Fish" recruitment.
He's become our albatross, unfortunately.

I know it is wishful thinking but I would have liked Lethlean’s promotion to have come with the rider that he repay the club the value of Hannebery’s contract.

Re: Surprising news. Hannas injured.
I'll be waiting for him to sue us
Knowing full well that he was done according all experts at the time
the StKFC received erroneous medical advice that countered the evidence of all expert medical evidence
That to perservere with Hannebery's condition and insist on him meeting the rigid fitness requirements of a starting 22 AFL player
Was to further exacerbate an already spent unit so as to have lifelong physical implications, hindering his capacity for a normal, pain ftree and happy life
Just farking wait for it

Re: Surprising news. Hannas injured.
AFL journalists just don't get irony.
Its not news it's snafu. Nothing to see.
While Dan gets fit enough for his next contiguous injury he can brush up on current rules. There have been so many changes since he played.
Retire you parasite, enough, have some decency.
No need for a farewell lap, anyway too dangerous.

Re: Surprising news. Hannas injured.
It was always a high stakes big gamble. It didn't pay off.
About time St Kilda held the gambler accountable.
We've already suffered too much from the gambling mentality.
No more hunches and out-of-left-field decisions.
Get the professionals in, for God's sake.

Anyone with an ounce of a brain knew this was not even a remotely calculated gamble.Waltzing St Kilda wrote: ↑Sat 26 Mar 2022 10:33pm It was always a high stakes big gamble. It didn't pay off.

Oh course St Kilda entrusts a certain, completely self-focused, Simon Lethlean with a dubious history with it's playing future. Only St Kilda!
The worst part of it all is he will be our future CEO!

Re: Surprising news. Hannas injured.
From saints.com.au
"Dan Hannebery will spend additional time on the sidelines following an injury set back at training.
Scans confirmed a right calf injury for the 31-year-old midfielder which occurred while completing a training block at RSEA Park on Saturday morning.
“This is clearly a disappointing start to the 2022 Season for Dan,” said St Kilda’s Head of Football David Rath.
“Given his recent history with soft tissue injuries, Dan has been working closely with the high performance and medical team to slowly build his load and he had been making some promising steps towards a return.
“While this isn’t ideal, we know Dan will approach this next phase of rehabilitation with complete professionalism.
“Our medical team are working through those next steps with Dan, but our primary focus at this moment is on supporting him through this.”

FFS no surprise it was only a matter of time total wasted space on our list.
Please someone in the football dept. help him with the decision to retire if you think he will ever return at St.Kilda you must believe in fairies.

The longer this goes on the worst the recruitment decision becomes. Force him into retirement and get rid of the distraction, he is not going to contribute.

Nah don’t agree with any of thissaintkid wrote: ↑Sat 26 Mar 2022 8:06pmThe damage was done long ago by one of the worst administrators the AFL has seen in Lethlean. Of course, only a club like St Kilda would give him another miracle power ride.
The decision to take Hannebery and give him a ludicrous, totally non-sensical contract was a massive cancer for the club then and continues to be 4 years on. It's a bad look for the rest of the list in relation to leadership, psychology, morale and in setting an example, to have a high priced, spent recruit sit in the stands 98% of this time.
I watched Treloar on Friday night and the contribution he made to the Dogs in that one game alone was more valuable than Hannebery has given to his club in 4 years. How I wish that money went to him instead. Lethlean drove a large stake into our club with a significant flow-on effect with that signing alone. Surprised how some still can't see the profound ramifications of that signing.
The Hannebery thing was bad but the rot was well and truly set in before Lethers. He inherited a club that was on and off the field utter garbage

Re: Surprising news. Hannas injured.
Chance for Rath to say something substantive, be straight with members and give a realistic prognosis - show us who he is, a footy thinker.
Pastor Rath however - as quoted - gives the platitudinous comfort statement, possibly written by first year media person (who, to be fair, may have been at Uni when Dan was recruited so doesn't know the history) completely overlooking the obvious, that Dan is done and so is our money and its rather pointless including him in 2022 plans. Baring a miracle, eh Pastor?
Possibly could have observed: well he and we gave it a good shot and plenty of time. Lot of time. Extraordinary amount of time. Some don't have careers as long as Dan has been out injured for us. Very sad, but we have , X, Y, Z (insert players names) we can concentrate on now and Dan has been around long enough to give us all the IP he has. Debriefings and opinion seeking will now cease. Will miss seeing him at the medical reviews though, been sort of a fixture. Of course we all believe in miracles and you never know.

Yokeys, I thought similar when I read Rath's statement. Just the corporate line. Bland nothing.

Re: Surprising news. Hannas injured.
My point is that St Kilda should not have let him "inherit" this club, as you put it. Yes, we weren't travelling well, had another idiot in Elshaug making our recruitment decisions and a coach in Richardson who didn't have the conviction to overrule him, among other deficiencies. The Recruit wrote: ↑Sun 27 Mar 2022 11:57amNah don’t agree with any of thissaintkid wrote: ↑Sat 26 Mar 2022 8:06pmThe damage was done long ago by one of the worst administrators the AFL has seen in Lethlean. All the more critical to get it right after several years in the doldrums since 2011.
So, what does this administrator, who unashamedly we don't rate, do? Makes a crazy decision to take a cooked player who struggled to play again at Sydney and give him an insanely long and lucrative contract at a desperate time for the club, where the margin for error was absolutely zero!
