Re: Team for round 2
I hope we win but I have got some serious doubts. If we lose but show improvement I'm ok with that. If we get smashed because we are playing the same way as last week ie. no game plan and just bombing into the forward line then all bets are off. If that is the case then I hope GT goes all in and causes a board spill on Monday and we change and reset everything.
It was s*** seeing the Dogs win the flag in 16 and then the Tigers triple and then the Dees win it. Now we are going to see Carlton right at the top. Over the last 20 years we were much better than all these crap teams but now they have all gone past us. How much heartbreak do St Kilda supporters have to take before someone jacks up and does something FFS????

St Kilda should never trade with Essendon and Sydney ever again!!!

Ben Paton on a half forward flank.
Yeah, seems everyone tries to fool the wackers.

Re: Team for round 2
Let's get in & get out of there with a win & no cases of covid. With no Fyfe or Mundy, I want Ross to tag Brayshaw.
I want Marshall to take all the centre bounces and at least break even as the only way to lose is by giving up centre clearances.
Our season starts Sunday, no excuses!

Extended bench, Higgins and Byrne might be dropped.
Wood is safe, Sharman in?
Lienert could come in

You're forgetting he Swans' two flags and Geelong's three. In the AFL era every team has won a flag except the Saints, Fremantle, GWS and GCS. We had a draw, I guess.SunnyErnie wrote: ↑Thu 24 Mar 2022 8:12pm

If Lienert comes in before Sharman that will be the final nail for Ratten. Simple as that.WellardSaint wrote: ↑Thu 24 Mar 2022 8:58pm Extended bench, Higgins and Byrne might be dropped.

Very dramatic. Hayes is basically in Sharman’s spot in the forward line at the moment, with the added ruck versatility. I like sharman too, but he will get chances if not this week, soon enough.SunnyErnie wrote: ↑Thu 24 Mar 2022 9:16pmIf Lienert comes in before Sharman that will be the final nail for Ratten. Lienert would be an option to give tall options in the back line with Meek/Darcy, lobb and whoever they have as a 3rd tall forward there and swap with Wilkie as the loose tall.

I think the I/C will be out of the first 5 named: Higgins, Lienert, Wood, Sharman and Byrnes.

Re: Team for round 2
Interesting watching tonights game Carlton play 4 talls in their forward line McKay, Curnow, Silvagni & De Koning which seemed to work fine. Why cant we play King, Hayes, Membrey & Sharman to give the opposition some headaches?

Re: Team for round 2
Hoping we keep Sharman, Higgins, Wood and Highmore from the players named on the bench.
I hope he proves me wrong but I feel like we're in for a 3-5 disposal game from Wangmil where he gets bullied and pushed around in the contest. I think he'll be ready in a year or two but I'm not sure why we wouldn't at least let him get some form, confidence and match fitness from a few good games in the VFL first.

Re: Team for round 2
Not dramatic at all. FFS we have to stop recruiting old rejects from other teams. Lienert is another example of a long list of failures FFS. If Sharman is overlooked again I want GT to go in on Monday and challenge the board and kick them out. Enough is enough. To think the idiot who is responsible for bringing in Hannas is being promoted to CEO says it all really!!!!!!amusingname wrote: ↑Thu 24 Mar 2022 9:28pmVery dramatic. Re: Team for round 2
If Lienert comes in… surely he comes in for Battle right? Otherwise what’s the point!
If Sharman comes in and starts playing as a defender suddenly then we’ve really lost the point
On NWM, I feel fairly optimistic that you could bring him in and place him on a HBF and let Sinclair go into the middle. I think it was GT that really liked to debut mods on the HBF because the ball came to them as opposed to them chasing the contest/play and that was a good spot to adjust to the pace.
+ Sinclair IMO needs to transition into a quality mid as opposed to a flanker.
Flanks are mids that need to be a touch more offensive/defensive based on the side of the ground they’re on… that either can’t run out the game in the middle or get the ball due to style.
Sinclair has neither problem.
He’s a got mid and he needs to be damaging where it matters most.
Let guys like Coffield, Billings and Clark (in general I mean as we know their injured) play on flank as they’re not natural mids.
Let NWM be accountable to a man, with no pressure to win the ball and the opportunity to use his skills and composure if he does get it

Re: Team for round 2
NWM will get a lesson like all rookies and I expect little from him. But he has great passing kick which we need especially into fiftybut he seems slight that’s my biggest concern
Lienert was hired as a tall defender I think which makes sense as we need height in the backline and he isn’t a rookie so no issues with him playing.

So Battle and Byrnes also out? Long as med sub?
Thinking: Lienert for Battle a straight swap. Sincs to wing, Highmore HB, Byrnes out.

Re: Team for round 2
I disagree re Clark. I think he could turn out be our best midfielder and our most important player. He was having an impact as a mid last year before his jaw was broken and he played very well as a mid in the game against Essendon in the Community series.skeptic wrote: ↑Fri 25 Mar 2022 8:39am If Lienert comes in… surely he comes in for Battle right? I can’t see Battle being replaced and I don’t think Lienert will play. Campbell and Lienert will be emergencies imo.
I like the idea of NWM at HBF but wouldn’t mind if he’s playing on a wing. It will be interesting to see the final starting 22.

He is at the scene of the crime…well, he’s late on the scene, so people blame him for opposition forwards kicking goals
Meantime, Howard is busy guarding space

Re Josh B:
1 tackle against Pies
Mihocek 3 goals
Frederick, Lobb, Tracey, Darcey, Meek
Don't expect Lienert to replace Paton. Or Howard or Wilkie or Sincs or Hill....so...
That's my take.
