Xerri delays contract talk
Xerri has put off contract discussions. He opened the season with a reasonable game, albeit against a baby Hawk ruck division. I have no doubt St Kilda will be in the market for a ruckman, especially one who can win centre clearance taps.
I hope he has a good season and genuinly harbours a wish to play for St Kilda in 2023.

Re: Xerri delays contract talk
Hopefully we have him committed to a trade at seasons end??? He is no Paddy Ryder but will get squeezed out at the Roos.Ghost Like wrote: ↑Thu 24 Mar 2022 9:39am Xerri has put off contract discussions. Understandable CQ especially if we fail to coax Longer out of retirement.

Re: Xerri delays contract talk
It will fascinating keeping tabs on how he goes this season. With the motivation of either being offered a deal by us or North offering him a deal to keep him -- the ball really is in his court and the world is his oyster if he's any good.

Re: Xerri delays contract talk
didnt he delay last year as well - sounds like a confused kid
and now - would a young "potential" 1st ruck be our top priority?

Re: Xerri delays contract talk
I'm not sure it would cost us anything more than dollars. A bit like the Draper gambit where Essendon matched or improved our offer.Viscount Jeremiah wrote: ↑Thu 24 Mar 2022 4:16pm Don't think we need him anymore.

Re: Xerri delays contract talk
I reckon Xerri will shock the league this year has serious potential to be a great ruckman. Watched all their games this season( praccies as well) for SC reasons, been easily the best of their talls and will likely push goldy out by year end.Viscount Jeremiah wrote: ↑Thu 24 Mar 2022 4:16pm Don't think we need him anymore.

Re: Xerri delays contract talk
Makes sense Saints have a habit of trying to lure a young underrated ruckman, failing and the next year they have a break out year (Cox, Draper ect)Brunswicksainter wrote: ↑Thu 24 Mar 2022 6:01pm I reckon Xerri will shock the league this year has serious potential to be a great ruckman. Re: Xerri delays contract talk
I said earlier in the year the Saints would regret not ponying up the requested 2nd round draft pick requested last year. Would be just our luck he has a breakout year and we wont get him or he will cost twice as much.Brunswicksainter wrote: ↑Thu 24 Mar 2022 6:01pmI reckon Xerri will shock the league this year has serious potential to be a great ruckman. He just needs to be reminded that North did him no favours during that period.

Re: Xerri delays contract talk
Clearly rated very highly internally given he’s pushing Goldstein out of the R1 role. I can’t see us getting him tbh, think he just wants guarantees re Goldstein and job security.
Should be a decent replacement for Ryder and back up for Marshall if we can get him.
