Better in that space????
“Gotta get better in that space!” What the hell does that mean, Ratten?
Meaningless, uninspiring drivel.
What actions will you and the players undertake to improve?
We’re a team of individuals, some ludicrously overpaid!
Gresham’s response to Dorothy Dix questions wasn’t inspiring either.

Poor old Ratts looks like he's aged 10 years since he took charge of his space cadets.
The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?

Re: Better in that space????
Unless it's a StarTrek reference, I have no idea.
That "space" seems to be the same "space" we found ourselves in last year. He and the Club have had six months to get "better in that space". Now we've got a week - you are correct saintkev, it is meaningless, uninspiring drivel.

Re: Better in that space????
I think he spoke about the issue, he talked about out lack of tackling, our lack of pressure, our inability to flex some muscle when the Pies came at us, Ratts nailed it, he said Collingwood grew legs after flexing some muscle and fed off it and went harder.saintkev wrote: ↑Sat 19 Mar 2022 11:23am “Gotta get better in that space!” What the hell does that mean, Ratten?

And what did we do, we shat ourselves and let them fiddle with us.
Steele needs to get more aggressive and fly the flag. He let Adams rag doll him and the Pies players grew in confidence. Where were our players, why did we match the aggression.
There's ya problem with this list...just too nice.
Ratts said in his presser in a much nicer way than I have but that's what he was alluding to.
We got a bruise free bunch here folks.

Steele is an absolute workhorse but not a natural captain IMO. I would put him on the half forward line for a while, and try another angle on the midfield/ on ball setup. We look so predictable and changed little from 2021. When Geelong pulled apart our game in 2020, we never really changed much at all.

McCrae: " (our) fighting spirit" prevailed: implication - Saints didn't have it, folded. Certainly a lot of tackles were missed or not seriously attempted; there was a lack of discipline at centre bounces.
And we are likely to cop that with a sigh and a "very disappointing" and a try to get better.
One of the first principles Ratts promised to bring to the Club was good disposal. Heard him say yet again last night's poor disposal was unacceptable, several years on. But it is accepted Brett......
Perhaps some of the mental health issues players suffer are caused by the disconnect between the verbiage and the reality.

Re: Better in that space????
The reports by those that attended pre-season training seemed to always mention POOR DISPOSAL, maybe they don't work on it as a club, maybe it's part of Ratten's game plan, confuse the oppositionYorkeys wrote: ↑Sat 19 Mar 2022 11:55am McCrae: " (our) fighting spirit" prevailed: implication - Saints didn't have it, folded. as to where we are going to deliver the pill, or maybe we just don't draft skilled players.

Re: Better in that space????
A day before the game Ratts was quoted as saying that we had had a good summer and learnt a lot from last year. Well obviously not Brett, as without Ryder pushing the ball down our mids throats they are very very 3rd rate. I say that not just because they lost, but they they got bullied and owned by a team that finished 17th last year.
Now Brett you are under the pump and rightly so - as Friday nights effort was completely unacceptable.

Re: Better in that space????
I wonder if some have Rutten under the pump for the Bummers shocker against the ageing Cats ?
They looked worse than the Saints and we're not due to play them back into form until Round 8.

Re: Better in that space????
I think Steele is in a similar phase to where Cotchin was not long after taking on the captaincy and just before their 2017 season. Cotch was perceived as being too nice and not waiving the flag when it was needed.spert wrote: ↑Sat 19 Mar 2022 11:49am Steele is an absolute workhorse but not a natural captain IMO. Our boys should have absolutely kept after N Daicos after that first dust up and put body on him consistently. There also should have been many other players going after Adams after that incident and putting body on Adams in support of their Captain.
They did neither and N Daicos and the whole Collingwood side grew in confidence from there. Suffice to say I'm guessing N. Daicos will now enjoy playing against us for the rest of his career.
If we want to be a finals team we are going to need to harden up.

Put Long back in the team because he has the opposition hearing footsteps.

Hind will cut us to ribbons.
It's like after breaking up with someone, and you're both invited to the same event later, you go to the gym, get a new tatt, etc, borrow a mate's nice car to drive to the event and bring a gorgeous lady as your date.
To stick it up them
A real Sainter will pledge allegiance to the ❤ and despise the Pies, the Blues, and the Injectors.
