Fantastic. Says a bit a bit about what we’ve built that Simon’s stuck fat through both his and our tough times and is now going to step up to the top job. Given Carlton, Hawthorn and Essendon have all wanted him as their CEO at some point in the last few years - we’ve got an industry respected peer as our new leader. That’ll do me.
And we’ll done to Finnis for dragging us back into some kind of ‘less sh1t’ debt position. And back home from the ar$e end of Seaford. Bravo

Re: COO to replace CEO at end of this season.
That's great news because it means our football club will continue to have strong and stable management in the forthcoming years - Simon Lethlean has been a very good COO and if he had missed out on succeeding Matt Finnis it could well have triggered the appointment of both a new CEO and COO, which is far from ideal as the club builds to challenge for a 2nd premiership.
I was especially pleased with the following comments by Andrew Bassat:
"......Simon has added a deep passion for St Kilda and understanding of the fabric of our club, which I’m confident will underpin the club’s prosperity under his leadership.”

Re: COO to replace CEO at end of this season.
There's been a bit of OMG in social media, but I like the smooth transition.
If we got someone new in, there'd be the drawn-out process of interviewing, etc.
Then new person has to learn the whole club and all the workings.
I think Lethers being CEO might take him away from coaches' box and other things that he had his mitts on, which is great- let others do their job without him interfering.
He'll be too busy doing CEO stuff.

Re: COO to replace CEO at end of this season.
Hopefully Simon can continue his good work as the clubs CEO. The relocation and infrastructure Finnis etc has brought to the club, will hopefully set us up for a continued era of stability. It would be brilliant if in the not too distant future, the club could shake its financial reliance on the AFL and acheive some onfield sucess.

Why would you want him anyway. Prefer ratts.
Clarkson was only as good as the players he had.

Was Lethlean the driving force behind the Hannebery trade?
Maybe CEO not a high enough reward for him based on that alone.

He was quiet for 5 days on twitter.
New tweet at 7pm AEDT about our debt, he showed a screen grab of we've gotten $156m from 2012-2021.
'Why are we still nearly $10m in debt?' He asks

I genuinely hope not spert, whilst Clarkson was a key pillar in a formidable dynasty, I don't want to see St Kilda have a terrible or average year just to change another coach - if Ratten succeeds, St Kilda succeeds.
We do not need a Messiah or another Naughty Boy.

Wow. St Kilda's too good for Clarkson and Ratten is better anyway.
No on ewill be happier than I if Ratten gets us back in finals this year and by doing so continues his tenure, but there's no evidence he's a match for a four-time premiership coach.

Re: COO to replace CEO at end of this season.
It may happen, but to wish for Clarkson at this time of the year is to wish for another disappointing year. I see no sense in that. Nor have I said or inferred that Ratten is better than Clarkson.

Not what I said. I said I prefer Ratts, and I do. Nothing to do with him being a better or worse coach. I don't like Clarkson for a number or reasons and I believe ratts is a better fit for our club.Waltzing St Kilda wrote: ↑Fri 11 Mar 2022 8:18am Wow. he is an idiot we went and built new stands. we have to pay for some of it. we will bring down debt again this year.WellardSaint wrote: ↑Thu 10 Mar 2022 7:38pmHe was quiet for 5 days on twitter.

We have now seen the first chief executive succession plan in footy. And there is speculation Collingwood might have forced the Saints to act, writes Mark Robinson.

Re: COO to replace CEO at end of this season.
This season will be the decider for Ratts- the best fit for our club is a coach who gets us into the finals, which I hope he does, and we obviously can't have a repeat of last season.saynta wrote: ↑Fri 11 Mar 2022 9:21amNot what I said.
