Wilkie is a slam dunk
Allison to 2024 seems a bit much this early - by all accounts barely competitive at VFL level
Dmac and Webster are interesting - given consistency has been an issue for both, don’t want either to get too comfortable just yet though one acknowledges close to career best seasons from both

You would imagine that Wilkie has joined the top 5 payed players while, based on their last contracts, both Webster and McKenzie have moved to the bargain basement.skeptic wrote: ↑Wed 22 Dec 2021 11:22am Wilkie is a slam dunk

With the cap about to be given a shake and a good group of talented young developing players in the bag, the club is clearly backing the decision to invest in the potential they saw when they chose Allison where they did.
Good luck to the kid.

Yep. the club obviously sees something. Excellent blood lines with Brett Allison and Peter Bosustow in his heritage.
Now if forumites will just jive him a chance to develop.

In Springfield, they're eating the dogs. The people that came in, they're eating the cats. They’re eating – they are eating the pets of the people that live there.

Got to say if you'd told me a couple of years ago we would be extending D Macs contract I would have laughed.
But he deserves another year.

Brad Howard and Lewis Pierce got contract extensions too…
We won’t know if he’s made it until he’s had some time and developed… his lack of physicality and competitiveness though… is a worry to me.

Allison has put on 8 kgs since the start of 2021. He's now 87kg, which is the same weight as Jack Gunston, who is 2cm shorter. Aaron Naughton at the same height is 89kg. The weight gain in Allison should make him more competitive. He may need to get to around 95kg before he can play as a true key position player. That's certainly achievable in the next two preseasons. Jake Lever at Melbourne is the same height and 91kg, whereas Noah Balta at Richmond is 100kg.

Hence the contract length extension I figure.cwrcyn wrote: ↑Thu 23 Dec 2021 6:55pm Allison has put on 8 kgs since the start of 2021. I think it’s less about having faith in the kid so much as an acknowledgment that he’s clearly going to need time to physically get to the level to compete.
I suspect they’ve earmarked 2 years as the time to grow into his body and reach the level required and the third year to make a judgment call on him both in terms of ability and attitude.
For those that have seen him play, what role has he been used in/is best suited to?
